Anybody else LOVE the fact that..
the GT's rear end badging has no ugly blue Ford oval, no Mustang labeling, just a COOL discrete round seal with GT in the center, and Ford around it. That's just CLASSIC. I mean I don't know who thought of that, or what the had to do to convince the corporate higher up that they didn't need the Ford oval, or even the word Mustang for that matter, but WAY TO GO. All it says is "FORD GT". Kinda makes you think it's a GT500
I actually like the one off the V6. Now that there's a real Ford GT it almost makes better sense to switch up and go with the running pony on all of them or make it say Mustang GT instead of Ford GT....maybe it's just me....
That's the beauty of the '05. It absolutely does not have or need any labeling to say "Mustang" or "Ford" anywhere on it for just about ANYONE to KNOW, without hesitation, that it's a Mustang.
You could show this car to a man locked in a dark room since 1970 and ask, "Check out this new car, what do you think it is?"
He'd say, with confidence, "That's a Mustang!"
......No doubt.

I agree
I like the badging too, but wouldn't have a problem with the running pony and tri-bar colors on the rear either. It hints at Mustang without spelling it out.
I found it interesting that they didn't put the word anywhere on the car but the door sills. It's not like you can't recognize what it is. I mean, if you don't know it's a Mustang, you've been living in a cave!
Is this the first time Ford has chosen to eliminate model designation emblems?

Mach wheels cured that for me!!! If I get the V6 rear cap I'll be matching all around...faux gas cap, steering wheel, and center caps all with the running pony design! May have to pick one of those up!

Funny nobody mentioned the fugly center caps. Those where the first things to go. Now, the ONLY Ford on the car is the rear badge.

I think it was J Mays who said the car should have no badging and be as clean as possible. Believe the strategy was, build a car so that everyone knows what it is without having to see any badges or nameplates, etc.
Great idea, but think I'd be one of the GT owners who would swap for the V6's fake gas cap - its a mustang, it simply must have the tri-bar pony on it somewhere. Afterall, the fog lights, dual exhaust and fender "GT" logos and sound are all you need to know its a GT and not a V6.

Theres quite a bit that distinquishes the exterior of the gt from the v6 -

Great post. Cool to see the side-by-side - haven't seen it done this way before. Really shows how big a difference there is.

I agree, if they had put the blue oval on the rear, I am sure lots of people here would be spending money having it removed.

Just use a hair dryer Goo Gone and some fishing line and your all set!! Matt
