I bought my 05 Mustang GT last February and haven't had any problems with it until recently. The transmission has been randomly acting weird when shifting from 2nd to 3rd with low and steady acceleration. The car will rev way up like it's in neutral for a couple seconds and then shift into 3rd.

Is this happening to anyone else?

It sounds like it's slipping..I'd take it in. The service department may be able to adjust it.

Have you been seeing any leaks? All of my transmission line couplings had to be replaced because I was leaking from multiple places. Slow leaks, but noticable on the garage floor. By the time I took it to the dealer (I garaged it for a bit until I got the appointment) mine started the same symptoms.

They took care of it in an afternoon, re-filled, inspected for damage, found none, and sent me on my way.

It's been fine ever since.

This is exactly the problem I've been having! Although the thing is...I've only noticed it when I AM actually shifting from 1-2-3 with the shifter, NOT in D. I should pay attention more and see if it indeed happens in D. This is slippage, i guess?

I really hate the fact that we can't check the fluid level in the auto tranny!

2004 mustang gt automatic problems

When my car hit the 90k miles it started doing the same thing. Now my car has 170k and still doing the same thing but it does it on hot weather conditions 99% of the time. By now i would have thought i would be putting in a new one. Any suggestions?
