Really on the fence with which tranny to get in my vert. Have heard mostly good things about both transmissions.

Love the auto, and have not a single regret in ordering the car with it. It offers all the performance that I was looking for. In saying that get the car with the trans you want, because you will be driving it not any of us. Good luck in your choice.

I owned a '93 5.0 LX with manual, so I dithered for a while,
then finally chose the auto after seeing posts like above....

Now I can't wait to get it

No regrets here either... love my auto for city driving. And the automatic 5-speed is just as fast as the manual.

I mainly chose automatic because of where I live. Horrendous traffic and lights every other block. I don't miss shifting every 5 seconds. If I lived somewhere more open I probably would have gone manual. No regrets here with auto, plus its great if you just want to cruise in your vert.

Another vote for No regrets, although the next could be a manual again.

I have the automatic, have no regrets. As soon as I found out the manual has a hydraulic clutch and it's pretty much the same design my stick-shift Ranger had (clutch was total garbage in that truck), I knew I was getting an automatic. I'm not trying to scare the manual trans owners, but I really wish Ford had kept the cable clutch. If they had kept that, my car would be a stick for sure.

To tell the truth.. it's a pretty difficult choice to make.. If you've always driven stick then it may be a no brainer in choice for the stick but if you've driven auto or both then it's pretty much a toss up.. I mean on one hand you figure.. well.. it's a performance car so I should get the manual right... but on the other hand you think well.. it's an everyday driver and I live in the city so I'll take the auto.. the new auto is actually one of the best (performance wise) that I've driven so as far as the NEW mustang is concerned there really is no right or wrong answer. As far as durability is concerned, I don't think any of us can really speak to that as the car is still new but considering all other factors I have to give the auto a thumbs up (for now anyway).

Sorry for rambling. I hope you can take something from my abundance of words.

i recommend the manual because its soo fun to drive. u wont regret it til bumper-to-bumper. even as soon as u break out of the traffic ull drop it into gear and then appreciate it again

Well you missed out with your preconceived notions that are not correct.
I liked the clutch in the GT and have driven more hot rods and truck manual shifts than I care to count.
My first 05 was a stick and I have ordered an automatic due only to the traffic situation in my area. If you live in a rural or small town area the manual is a blast but no so in bumper to bumper traffic unless you are much younger than I. I think that is about everyone.
ROLL ON

Growing up in the big city, I never learned. I am happy with the automatic. I don't care too much if I am a split second slower with the automatic transmission. I spend most of my time stuck behind mini-van moms, SUVs, and 4 cyl. imports anyway.

I am for the manual. Everycar I owned has been a manual.

Plus an automatic sports car dosen't seem right to me. It is like a boy wearing girls clothes.

Just my opinion though, do what ya want. it's your car.

Well I am for the automatic if you do lots of city driving and arent going to the track all the time. I drove the stick and with all that power it was a little jerky to have to be shifting all around town. As well as I am a bigger guy, and I noticed the area between pedals etc was a little to close together for me. So I opted for the two pedals instead of three. Lot easier for everday driving.

It's your own personal preference ,I love shifting , but not everyday. The auto is really smooth and great to drive. Never thought twice about choosing it. Probably it is a matter that you inner boy or girl has to decide.
