Ok, I'm buying an 05 as my first new car ever. My neighbor is a Ford Salesman and we got to talking about Ford's new No Interest 60 month deal. Well this weekend we're going to try and work out that deal on an 05 Mustang GT. Not sure if it's gonna happen, but............ Anyways, i'm 6'2" about 225 and long **** legs, and size 13 shoes. When I sit in the 04's, it's not comfortable to me, and it feels like the pedals aren't positioned where they should be. So my HUGE question is, for the larger guy who has sat in the 05, was it comfortable? Are the pedals, (that means 3 pedals, who buys a V8 sports car and slaps an auto behind it? ) positioned so that you were comfortable? I was just hoping to get a few opinions before I plop down some cash on a car i've never sat in.

as a side note: Anyone know when a GT will be in the Atlanta area to sit? Or have I already missed my chance?

Thanks,

Kevin

It sounds like you really like the looks of the 2005 model. I can't answer your question since I have never sat in it, but there may be a chance that they could move the seat mounting bolts to give you more room. I know they are able to do this on other cars. That may be a good question for your neighbor before you sign.

I sat in the 05 a few days ago, (I'm 6"1' and 180), and the seat was moved way back(I'm not sure how far back it goes, bc it wasn't powered on) and my feet rested lightly on the pedals, and the shifter was easily in reach. If I could've moved the seat, it would have been forward, not backwards...

The looks, the HP and Torque, the fact that it's so fast for so little $$$. And the V8 rumble. Maybe i'll drive to Detriot, and "borrow" a GT for a few days. Who's coming with me?

I sat in the white 05 in Nashville . I am 6ft 1 and weight 190 along with being
over 60 and was very happy with the leg room, shifter position and ease of entry.
I was even able to get my walker and cane inside...............but really was a great
fit. Hope the new cobra fits this old butt as well.

Road trip ! For those of us smitten by this car, it would be so cool if they were able to have a place where we could drive the car before ordering one. B)

I sat in it in Cincinnati. I'm 5'7" and I had to move the seat up quite a bit for it to be in a comfortable position. There were some fairly tall people there trying it out also and I think they were satisfied with it also.

I also live in Atlanta. I saw the car at the AJC Car show in March but it was roped off and had a couple of large gentlemen making sure nobody crossed the ropes. I have heard a rumour that Ford was going to bring the 05 down for a ride and drive at Road Atlanta in June or July but have never been able to confirm this information.

when you say there WILL be interest, do you have a ballpark of what it might be? I was pretty sure there wouldn't be 0% either, I was thinking 2.9% or 3.9% through Ford Credit? Does anyone have any idea?

I'm just under 6'2" tall (long legs) and around 195 lbs, and had a chance to sit in the '05 in L.A. I also have an '02 GT, so it made comparing the two vehicles easy. I have limited legroom in my current Mustang, and we all know about the current car's ergonomic shortcomings.

The '05 has more legroom than the current car, and ergonomics (placement of the shifter and having the steering wheel centered) are much improved. The pedals are also more efficiently placed on the '05.

A Ford engineer emphasized that the centering of the steering wheel (with the current car the steering wheel is not directly in front of the drivers seat; its off to the right slightly and very annoying) and placement of the pedals and shifter were areas that were concentrated on with the design of the '05.

If there will be no 0% interest deals, do you know of any other possible rebates that might happen?

The suspense is killing me. You are the same height as the person who started this thread. Was the 2005 comfortable to sit in ?

For the amount of time I spent inside the vehicle, it was very comfortable. Much more so than the current Mustang. But, the true test of how comfortable the new car is, will be when we all get a chance to actually drive it. I'm looking forward to that day, just like everyone else.

Another welcome improvement of the new interior are the headrests that actually support your head. Unlike the useless ones in the current car.

I've posted this before, but here goes...

I'm 6'2" and I'm sorry to say I weigh about 280. I am extremely uncomfortable in the current Mustangs and as much as I like them I wouldn't buy one because I know over the long haul I wouldn't be happy sitting in it.

I sat in the 05 GT when the Pony Ride came through San Diego. It's a completely different experience inside! I am almost as comfortable as I am in my Camry. I will not hesitate to buy one next winter. You will be very happy when you get to check it out yourself, trust me.

Great to hear that most people found that the new car has more interior room which is an issue for me as well as I'm also 6'2" and 195lbs. Headroom is the main issue for me followed by pedal layout. Also, the shifter is a slight reach in the current car (however I do have long arms so it isn't as bad for me).

Well I didn't get to go to the dealership my neighbor works at, but I did make it to a Ford dealership. I walked in just to inquire if they were getting an 05, and when. He stated it's impossible to preorder them, and then I had a good laugh. I asked if I was able to make a deposit and pick out the options I wanted. They said that's impossible, no one knows what options are going to be available. Then I pulled out the order guide I printed out from this site..........he snatched it from me and brought it to the Manager. He asked where I got it and I said, "I have my sources." He seemed none to pleased that I had a ton more info than he had, and then started making phone calls. At which point I placed my name on a list for 05 info, and left.

It's always nice to feel like I have 100x more knowledge than the actual dealership.
