Arrived at the ramp??? What does that mean?

I just called the 1-800 number to get the status of my new car and the message said that it has arrived at the ramp. What does that mean?? Last I heard it was on the rail. Does that mean it is ready for truck transport?

I thought it was when they jump-tested the car prior to delivery

MB, this info might be helpful to you......

Production Dates and What they Mean

Receipt Date: The date that MS&S recorded the order.
When the order is received from the dealers

Serialize Date: The date that MS&S transfers the order to MP&L and the VIN is created.
When the order is received by Material Planning and parts are ordered

Segment Date: The date that MP&L determines which week the order will be built.
When they figure what week that parts will be able to be delivered to the plant to build the vehicle

Sequence Date: The date that MP&L determines which day the order will be built.
When they figure what day that parts can be at the plant to build the vehicle

Blend Date: The date that MP&L determines when the order will be built within the assigned day.
When they figure the specific order that vehicles will be built. This depends on options and line constraints.

Produced Date: The date that VO finished assembling the vehicle
Your unit has been built!

Gate Release Date: The date that VO transfers the vehicle to Transportation Carriers for shipping.
Your unit has left the building, and is in the hands of the shipper (rail or truck)

Ship Date: The date the vehicle left the Assembly Plant
Your unit has left the load site, and is on it's way to the dealer

Arrival Date: The date the Dealership received the vehicle
Your dealer has the unit in hand, doing the dealer prep thingy

Sold Date: The date the Customer picked up the vehicle
You came in, looked it over, said, "I'll take it!" and signed the papers

I have heard of two "Ramps". One is the ramp when the car is to be loaded onto the train. The second, when the car has been unloaded from the train and arranged to be loaded onto a truck.

Either way, the car is on its way to your dealer. Depending on your distance from Flat Rock, holidays, wekeends etc. it could take 1 to 3 weeks for the car to arrive.

But this is a good time of year. There are no holidays, the weather has been pretty good for the most part and Louisana is not too far away from Michigan. I would expect for you to have you car very soon!

Now I keep seeing the scene from Ferris Bueler's Day off in my head....Seriously though it sounds like its waiting at the holding area for the trucking company to pick up.

When I got this message from the ERL, the car showed up at the dealership the next day, so it shouldn't be long now!

The day I got the message "Arrived at the ramp" I jumped for joy! WOOHOO! Won't be long now! Out of curiosity a couple days later I called my friend ERL and got "Shipped via Railcar" or something similar. I went WHAT!!! WHAT !!! I ran off to my dealer and they checked... same thing. Hmm. The car showed up at the dealer on a truck 7 days later. ERL never did say "Arrived at ramp" again. Anyway, congrats! Hopefully it won't be long now!

Hey Skip,

We are not allowed to post the 800 number here. I sent you a PM with the info you need.

Be glad...When mine rolled off the factory, it got on the train, and the train de-railed...Delayed delivery for 2+ weeks. I was so ticked off I drove to the dealership and ate their front door...
