So, I'll be getting in line for a 06 GT pretty soon, and have a few choices of states where I could look to purchase from.

I live in NY but have half my family in Birmingham, Alabama and the other half in Holderness, New Hampshire, with many relatives scattered from Atlanta south through Florida. I am willing to travel for a good deal and good service.

When I look at Fords website to see what dealerships have strong inventory, it seems that many Southern dealerships have done more Mustang business or have more Mustang available stock than what I see up north here and further north towards New Hampshire where I know truck and SUV business is strong.

Adamson in Birmingham is one of those dealerships that pops up alot: http://www.adamsonford.com/intro.htm

They advertise that they are "Birminghams Oldest Ford Dealer" And offer the "Best Price and Selection". As well, they look to be a Saleen dealer?

I could set up a nice trip to visit my father and combine it with a trip to their dealership for an order if they are worth the time.

My father bought his 64 1/2 brand new when he graduated high school and had a nice stable of 67's and 68's afterwards. I felt besides the obvious fact that the S197 is an Awesome performance deal & looks damned handsome, that it might be nice if I stepped up to the plate and carried on a bit of the family tradition.

Does anyone have information about this dealership? Are they some of the good guys or should I steer clear of them?

I have time, and am patient. I am older and hopefully a bit wiser but am still a big kid at heart.

Any extra advice? I've been scouring many Ford & Mustang web sites and retaining alot of good information in the last few months with relation to buying a new Mustang, and I know how to deal so all that shouldn't be a huge issue.

I'm just looking for good people to deal with after I pretty much fell in love with the car last year at the NY auto show.

And how great is it, that I have family in Birmingham that I could come and visit for the Mustang meet next fall.

TIA

Anton

Well, you said you were willing to travel. May I reccomend my dealer? Gary Smith Ford in Fort Walton Beach FL. I dealt with Bob Amorelli, he is the General Sales Manager. I got the best new car buying experience there and the service is more than I could have asked for. It's only a few hours from B'ham!

When I bought my '99 vert I tried to get one from Adamson. Although I was 27 at the time but I look younger. They would not give me the time of day thinking I was just some High School kid. I tried numerous times to get the attention of some of the salesmen but they skirted me and went to everyone that was either older or had their parents with them.

Maybe they will serve you better, and I wish you luck if you decide to go with them. I would check with some of the ones Brad recommends for the area.

Good luck!

I live in the B'ham, AL area. I bought a Explorer from Adamson Ford back in 1993. They gave me as good of a deal as any of the other dealers at the time and I was well please with the sales process.

I've also purchased several vehicles from Jim Skinner Ford and Long Lewis Ford. I was please with their sales process also.

Another local dealer, Town & Country Ford, is suppose to be a good dealer but I've never purchased from them.

The supply and demand situation on the new Mustangs throws a wrench in the gears with most dealerships, they want to add $$$ to the sticker price. I can only suggest you contact them by phone or email to find out their policy and inventory.

Go to fords website and do a dealer search, use zip code 35223 to see inventory, here's the Link.

I purchased my 05 GT from Barber-Freeman Automotive last November. Their a small country dealership about 50 miles from B'ham. They were Great !!! No usual BS that most dealers pull. They were honest and up front with everything, paid $1,000 below MSRP. Their allotment is not real strong though. The sales mgr is Tony Brown 1-800-890-5105

Good Luck with your search and purchase. The car is Fantastic.

I did buy my car from Jim Skinner Ford, and had the servicing done at Long Lewis and the sales staff was very nice as well. I am on the list at Town & Country for the Shelby and so far I have been impressed with the polite, quick and very helpful staff there as well.

Like I said, you might have a better time at Adamson Ford ... I unfortunately did not.

I bought my last two at Town & Country, but Adamson is more convenient for my service. Beware of their online inventory; most of their GTs are actually Saleens with GT VINs. Call (205) 271-4700 and ask for John Neal. Tell him I sent you.

Excellent.

Thank you all very much for your help.

I'm happily surprised how helpful and knowledgeble this forum is. Reminds me of the SCCA and NASA forums I frequent, but this forum moves alot quicker.

As per their GT Saleens, yeah I noticed the GT's listed for around $46, and almost had a heart attack.

It seems that Town & Country also have a good rep?

I'm not biased towards any dealership in the area. I'll be in Bham in February and figured it'd be a perfect time to visit a dealership and do some competitive shopping.

Thanks for the Tip with John Neal, I will certainly start with him and mention you sent me and see where it goes.

Roy Moore at Town & Country sold me my last car--my wife's Escape. He'll talk your ear off, but he's a real nice guy. His number is (205) 296-1140.

I live in northern Tennessee and bought from Woody Anderson Ford, in Huntsville, Ala. They accepted the X plan and were courteous.
