Here is the commodity breakdown for this week in the Chicago region.

Total GT 34%
GT Manual 20%
64E Wheels 17%
64W Wheels N/A
14A Anti theft 52%

These numbers mean that if a dealer say has 5
ustangs allocated, 34% can be GT's; so either 1 or 2. If 2 then only 1 with anti theft. And odds are none with 64E or manual unless they have more than 5 allocated to boost theie share of percentages.

Why does ford have percentages of what kinds of mustangs are out there? I mean I get they have ratios for whatever reason, but why affect special orders? This is insane. If lots of people want Manual GTs why doesn't ford accomodate?

I'm guessing the numbers are based on the inventory of parts on hand. In other words, for this week, they have enough manual transmissions on hand for 20% of the GT production. Even if they were to up the percentage, I assume it would take weeks to get the inventory up to levels they would need to sustain increased manual GT production. Those manual trannies don't just magically appear!

BTW, this is all supposition on my part. I'm basing it on my experiences related to product manufacturing. The auto industry may function in a completely different manner.

Like I said in another thread, in one week its one commodity then in the next week it's another. No wonder some '05's never got built - their selection of options, along w/ their dealer's allocation and priority # just never aligned with the planets. Jeez, the more options you order the more you shoot your delivery date in the foot!
