Just kinda curious how many more 'waiters' are hoping to see their cars finally the first week of December?
Weather in Ohio sucks right now, hope it will get better for at least a couple days when 'needed'...with my luck it might be a blizzard though...
just looked back to my first thread posted in here back in 2005...that got a whopping zero replies LOL
who else went thru the joys of 'the wait'? calling the evil robot lady daily to see if your car got scheduled yet? what a pain it was getting one...that first ordered one about killed me- the carhauler guy smashing it getting it off the truck was probably the best thing that ever happened to me- i had been so obsessed over that car, it would have owned me.... its reordered twin wasnt so lucky- its been used/abused(but maintained/unsalted) and has just been the best car ever for me... clicked over 100k a week ago, still been dead reliable, even with all the abuse its been subjected to... love these cars, still as fun to drive, nice to look at, as the day it finally came in on 12/17/05.
after cancelling that first one three days after they damaged it, thought I was done... when regional called me back promising another priority 1 build in 30 days. i decided then it was gonna be just a car, not a obsession... the one getting smashed, I think was just a well deserved slap upside the head from God for obsessing so childishly over that car... for months, everyone I worked with was sick of hearing about it
funny when all was said and done we got a 07 and a 09 also... but man that first one(and its replacement) were beyond stressful...was one long 5-6 months >2000 miles from home
Little man is priobably all growed up now, probably looking at the car pretty close too. Dates, etc ...
Y'all took two on a family vacation didn't you? Fun memories I'll bet.
for sure- he autocrossed it with me for two years(took last 2 years off though). hes come a long way- born Easter Sunday with zero odds of survival, three open hearts before 3 months/6 pounds, 'outgrew' a 'uniformly fatal in infancy' lung disease...off all meds since 1 yr old, played Sax since 5th grade, rebuilt his ranger pickup, raced the mustang, ended up a still kinda skinny 23 yr old police dispatcher, he bought a new F150 at 21 yrs old... he took the mustang to prom too(was before he had his truck- the old ranger just didnt cut it the vacation trip he only had his temps, but at 15 was cruising some of the prettiest roads in colorado- he and his older brother will surely never forget that drive... kids grow up fast man...my youngest is 13, started 7th grade this morning- he grew like near a foot this past year too...time flies...he will be wanting to take it to colorado in a couple years LOL. wife cant go anymore, elevation and weak heart are a bad mix...dunno if we'll ever go again, but the kids will...actiually the youngest and oldest just got back a couple weeks ago, but they took the oldest's truck...where they were going, the mustang wouldnt like it
It is amazing how fast time flies by. Nice set of pictures and interesting update. Your son is a fighter and it is nice to hear when those little ones beat the odds and get to live a pretty much normal life. A good news up lifting story there. Car is looking mighty fine. I assume the last one is a fairly current photo. Looks like you had a lot of fun with it over the last 15+ years.

thanks- yes its been a fun car to say the least...most recent pic I have- overall it has weathered VERY well, and its outside year round- but has never been on a salted road even once- only 'issues' besides the water leaks and hood blisters(think ive permanently fixed the leaks, and replaced the hood years ago) was a alternator, a ac compressor, a clutch (disc only-$50 from newtakeoff), control arms... updated to stainless/teflon brake hoses(really stiffens the pedal!) and ebc/hawk pads...aside from that, just redid the trunklid (bedliner???) where the magnetic blackout caused almost all the paint to lift- ironically, the paint that peeled had a texture on the backside - looked at the decklid, sandscratches galore- this trunklid was repaired at Ford, I got it with 3 miles on it... maybe without the magnet it woulda lasted, maybe not. anyways, tried the bedliner just to see how it would look, and like the texture...so leaving it this way... also painted the taillight gaps- something i wanted to do since 2005 LOL. she's been a great car, liable to outlast me
