Delivery 6 weeks after scheduled build?
Delivery 6 weeks after scheduled build?
I ordered a 2011 GT back in late February. Haven't heard anything, so I called the dealership. I'm being told a build date week of April 19, with an estimated delivery of late May to early June. I'm not in a big rush for the car, but I was curious that it may take 6 weeks after the build week before delivery. The salesman also mentioned something about a material hold delay, but didn't communicate what the effect was. Is 6 weeks after the build week typical for a delivery time?
I wouldn't be surprised. A week sitting around on the factory lot. 2 weeks wandering around on a train. Another week sitting at a transfer lot. A few days for a trucker to truck it to the dealership. Another couple of days for the dealership to prep the car and notify you of it's arrival. Lets see...that's 4 weeks. According to my glorious math, 6 weeks is a bit long. They probably add on another 2 weeks of buffer so you won't be yelling at them if it's not there in 4 weeks.
I live and am taking delivery in Tucson, AZ. My credit is good and I applied with Ford Credit just to further test the waters. I want to shop for the best rate but will have to wait until I'm closer to the delivery date. It's probably too early yet to secure financing. Thanks for the feedback.
My 2010 was ordered 4-29-09, built 6-10-09 and delivered 6-23-09... All the way to Cali... So just a day shy of 8 weeks from order to delivery. I think they went into production hold a little after I ordered so I think 6 weeks should be doable...
