If the 'stang was going to be my daily-driver, stuck in traffic car - I would have gotten the automatic. Fortunately, I have a Camry for those duties. I only learned to drive stick recently, and absolutely love it the manual. I'll admit that I can't drive as smoothly as my sedan yet, but the learning is half the fun. No regrets here except for not learning to drive stick at a much earlier age. :drive:

 

I ordered a maual GT. But as many have said already, to each his own. My previous mustang, which was a manual, I drove as my work vehicle for the 1st year of my current job. It was great on the interstate when it was wide open, but my left foot would go numb on the clutch on spaghetti junction at rush hour. Now I have a company car and it's not an issue any more. I'll only have to drive my mustang for recreation now. And if I'm not in the mood to shift then I'll just drive my wife's MDX. "Choose, but choose wisely."

Look if you are not buying the car to enjoy its performance side there are many better cars for you to buy.... but i dont want to get into this so have fun and drive anyway you want and i will do the same...

 

Manual all the way for me. I've heard that the new automatic transmission is great, and a manual can get bothersome in L.A. traffic for a daily driver, but I still prefer the manual. I like being able to control my shift points, and the exhaust note than comes out of the car with the manual sounds better.

Plus the fact the auto was an extra $995, didn't even make it a consideration for me.

 

I thought for about 1/2 a day about getting an automatic for the simple fact that every vehicle we have is 5 speed. But I went with my heart and got the manual. I just hope nothing happens to either of our left legs again. A broken left foot in that big bulky boot makes a lot of things, especially driving quite an adventure!

 

I think that's a fair e'nuff assessment. Actually, I probably started this thread a little on the early side of production. I think after about a years time, there will be some that wish they'd gotten an automatic......but probably won't admit it. I used to own a S2000 a couple years back. Now this was a driving experience: 51-49 weight distribution...240 horse...6 speed manual...2 seat roadster...9000 RPM redline. This was a driving experience of feeling 'connected', and there is no way I would have gotten a auto in this car even if it was available, but it was a 3rd vehicle, and was used as such. Visit the website www.tailofthedragon.com for some examples of the kind of driving that I think of when I think of 'Driving' (318 curves in 11 miles). The Mustang is alot bigger car, with different driving characteristics IMO.....especially with the solid rear axle and frequent wheel hop. I love the Mustang.....and also love the automatic in it, and in fact I would buy this car again, 100 times over, but comparing this and a true 'road car' are like comparing apples and oranges IMO. B)

 

I am very happy with my choice of the manual. Even if I knew the autos were faster I would still choose the manual. Yestday I saw a post from Dustin at Whipple Superchargers that stated:

So if you want to be the first kid on your block with a whipple supercharger then you better hope you have a manual tranny. :shock:

 

Every car I have bought for myself has been a manual, and prolly always will be.

I have never owned a vehicle with a manual trans in my life, but I will by this spring! ... I hope I like it. I think I will because I work at home, and this is my "pleasure vehicle"--for nice summer days only.

 

O, and for people who respond to questions if they have a 5-speed and they actually have an auto: quit it. It's just being a poser (wow, haven't said that in a few years) and just makes you look like an idiot. Just say you have a five-speed auto.

i dont have my gt yet, but when I do, it will definately be a manual. Wouldn't have it any other way.

 

I'm forty years old and it's the first time of my life that I drive manual...at first I was down cause I'm a beginner..but now ,I enjoy it..I love to hear the sound of that car ..especially at 3000-3500 rpm...you cannot with an auto...SHIFT STICK FOREVER :drive:

 

In the 22 short years of my life I've had my fill driving manuals. Guess thats what happens when you start driving cars, tractors, pickups, grain trucks...etc on the farm starting at age 10 (no..laws didnt apply where i grew up). Not to say that manuals arent fun as heck, but for the young professional that i am today and living in the city (and not the country) had to go auto. Ill save my next manual for when im 30 and a millionare. (I should be able to get a Ford GT by then right?) To each their own. And to be honest the funnest car I ever drove was a 89 Escort automatic with a hand parking break.....stunt car drivers eat your heart out..hahaha

 

I ordered and bought a MT and haven't thought twice about it. Had a chance to buy an AT last October, but passed on the opportunity.

I did test drive the Stang with AT and I have to say I was impressed with it .

 

Manual and very happy with it. The auto is quick, for sure. But if I had to replace it, it would be another manual.

You are correct. I am an OLD FART and I drive an automatic cause I got tired of shifting the manual 05 GT. No longer fun. By the way a Mustang in NOT a sports car but it is a fun car but a Shelby is a sports car.

a miada is even considered a sports car...
A shelby mustang is still a mustang so if the shelby is a sports car then the mustang is one too
