Yes; they have to be on the bumpers. They made this rule because of the snow we get here; even a light dusting will cover the windows. I don't know what they do on the few special days we get every year when snow is deeper than the bumpers. I had a real visceral reaction to putting them on the Windstar, I can’t imagine how I will feel when I sticker our Mustang when the time comes.

I have been thinking of making a “L” bracket that attaches under the bumper somehow, but I’m not sure how that will work.
I'd hate to live where you are. We get lots of snow here but the school has a tag that hangs in the window. If your windows are covered in snow, if they really want to check they dust brush the snow away in that area to view the tag.

Putting stickers on the bumpers makes no sense and if you are stuck doing it I guess it really doesn't matter where you put them because anywhere on the bumper will look bad :notnice:

i worked at a retirement home about 5 years ago, and they required that u have a parking permit (sticker) and it said to put it on ur bumper, of course at the time i had a P.O.S. 91 Mazda Protege, so I put it on the bumper like it said and when I went to sell the car, boy did it take some of the paint right off!!! Better Stick it in your bottom left corner rear window, if it doesn't have the sticky front to it, then use scotch tape, never put sitckers on the car......

A couple of sheet metal screws will hold it on there too..... I can't believe you'd let them tell you what to do. Put it on the glass, and if you gat a ticket, walk it into the admin office and tell them to shove it up their admin orifice.

Perhaps you can recommend using brake fluid to take off the sticker for the donkey named jack that tells you to stick that permit to your painted surfaces.

*** By the way, for those who don't know what brake fluid will do to paint, DON'T USE IT to remove stickers.... you'll get more than you bargained for. ***

Well, if you have to put it on your bumper, I'd think the best way to go would be the vinyl suggestion.

For anyone who has to put a sticker on the windows, just tape it to the inside of the window, that way when its time to remove it just rip it off. Sure, you may have to retape it now and then, but easier than having to scrap the sticker off. And even if you end up having to scrape the tape off, its easier to scrape off a little bit of tape than the whole sticker.

Can't do that with my decals, they have to be on the exterior of the glass, but I have never had any trouble getting them off with a razor blade.

When I said put some magtnet behind the area to get stuck, I knew that the bumpers were plastic.

I would still worry about it falling off though.

Another idea would be to put some sort of tacky stuff that will pull off the paint easily, on the area of the sticker and then put the sticker on that. I am thinking of a non-corrosive rubber cement that dries clear. Craft stores sell this stuff.

The Campus Police say the stickers are vinyl and the sticky hasn't hurt anyone's paint.

I'm impressed with TLC all of you, I could tell that you could feel my pain. I will let everyone know what path I take when I get our Mustang.

Thank You ALL!

It's the DoD, you don't ask why. I would imagine so the gate guards can see it, glare on the glass can inhibit seeing a decal through the glass sometimes.

I didn't read every word of this thread, but did anyone mention you could stick it somehow to a license plate frame? Also, all college campus rules tend to stink. And campus cops seem to have a little ego problem since the couldn't make it on to a real police force. Just my opinion based on past experience. Good luck with the sticker problem.

Um, maybe it's because they're not sticky on the right side of the sticker?

Also, about the not sticking to paint sticky stuff, what about that jelly stuff they use in magazines? I dunno how it'd do in the cold, but surely ya got a freezer... And for hot, well, an oven ought to show that too...

Just a brain outgassing I had. Laters.

Edit: Oh yeah, I almost forgot: Sue. I mean, I'M in anguish, so it's only fair you do so now... And lemme know how much I get.

You could make a small bracket and attatch it to one of the lower bolts for the license plate. They used to make tag frame brackets, like a little extention 'pad' for DOD stickers like at the Pentagon years ago, I have no idea where you get them now.

Since the campus police are so quick to mention that it won't hurt the paint when you try to take it off did they also guarantee your paint won't be discolored from the sticker over time?

Would really stink to take your sticker off later in the year only to find that your could see a faint outline because the paint had faded a tiny bit.
