To me it's not the number of cylinders but the performance you get out of them, and, of course, the price. That's where the Mustang excels.

I could care less what this bimbo think about the Gt's interior materials. This what edmunds said :

"the Mustang's interior is unique and matches the exterior design theme. Look at the instrument panel and it's obvious that the old-school influences are there — a dual-hooded dash with (optional) aluminum accent panels pays tasteful homage to the 1967-'68 Mustang, as do the big speedo and tach, circular air vents and plump, round steering wheel hub. Changeable backlighting illuminates the nostalgic instruments — a modern touch that's intriguing but a little gimmicky for a pony car."

The materials and features aspects of the interior were not overlooked, either. The door panels and release handles are now more substantial in look and feel, and one-touch up-and-down power windows add a bit of unexpected convenience. The climate control setup is the tried-and-true three-**** design, which is fine with us — if it ain't broke, ya don't need to fix it.

the interior of a car is only as good as you take care of it. if you treat the inside of your good it will last for a very long time, if you trash it will then you get trash!

I don't get this female ******* about plastics on cars. My SVT Focus has nice plastic in it, nicer then my old 98 GT had, but not by much. My friend owns a G35 Coupe and I don't see whats so special about it, esp with the painted silver center of the IP. Another friend had a 2-3 yr old Honda and the plastic in that was worse then my Focus. I really wonder at times if these reviews are just $%&#ing nickpickers.

EDIT: ROLF on the Female ******* swear filter

 Talk about "Fisher Price" look. Look at any Pontiac interior. They all look like toys with the grey plastic *****. And Pontiac was suppose to be upscale of Ford or Chevy!
I agree. GM dashes and buttons are the worst! More of that North American attitude to build quality.

Why should I have to pay $50K + for a Cadillac or Lincoln to get an interior that is equivalent to a $26K Acura?!!

That said, I do think things are BEGINNING to change in this hemisphere.

And Toyota uses even more expensive pixie-dust plastic!

The pre-production GT I saw had the alum accents but I thought it looked very nice. But what do I know, I don't work for a car mag!

Tell you what. I'll take the $25,000 I'll save by buying a Mustang GT instead of a BMW M3 and I'll gold-plate every plastic surface in the darn thing. Will that make everyone shut up about how cheap the interior looks?!!

Then you can have the reporters from "Bling-Bling" magazine come out and do a story on your car! It'll be right next to the article about cars owned by Ice Cube, or Ice Tea, or Iced Cappuccino...or whoever the heck that is.

Id give up sponge plastic for 4 more cylinders anyday. I think its comical that people buy 58,000 BMW's with 6cyl engines. The word value does not come to mind. I cant wait to see 450hp SVT's modded to 700+ trolling the local friday night strips with screaming superchargers.
A lot of BMW's 6 cylinders meet or exceed the performance of other manufacturer's V8s. We own a Jaguar, and I can safely say that although it is an Inline 6 and the car is 8 years old, it is still a more powerful motor than a lot of V8s out there. [/b][/quote]
again, PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

A bmw M3 should cost about 37k loaded, not 60. They do not hold up long term, any M3 I have ever seen with mileage above 90k miles and 6 years old is tattered, with faded interiors and deteriorated leather, squeaky clunky door hardware, and cracking rubber, tops that are falling appart on 'verts, and bad paint. We have a 98 M3 now that is an awful ragged rat with under 100k miles. I went to drive it again the other day but the driver door handle hardware broke off in the door so you can not open it now. Not to mention what it takes the average one in the shop to make it 'good enough' to resell, you count the thousands, not hundreds. It smokes, creaks, and has a lot of 'looseness' to it. You should see how bad an older 'vert is. A 8-10 year old BMW is a nightmare to own. All that high-end plastic interior bits sure dont quite fit the same over the years, if they are still attatched to the car. Look at how ratty the next 1996'ish BMW looks that you see in a parking lot sometime. I have friends that have over 100k on stangs that were brought to the track regularly from day one that still look great.

Not to mention what time does to a VW product after about 5 years. I also have a 97 accord coupe that looks pretty worse for wear inside with only 66k miles on it. Everything squeaks when you touch it, and the 'paint' on the center console plastics are all bubbled up and peeling. The car was not beat up on at all by the owner. You also see the same crummy door handles, vents and buttons in every single product throughout every japaneese car line. I think toyota has used the same cheapo inside door handle for most of thier cars for over 15 years. I just dont get the hype. There is NOTHING special about the interior of a Camry or Accord. We have roughly one of every popular used vehicle on our site at any given time, If anyone ever wants to go through a car part for part I can point out there is hardly any difference in an import, and in many cases worse quality then american vehicles.

Its all about perception Kev... US vehicles have improved greatly, but the stigma of the past still clings to em.

BTW, did anybody notice the exhaust on the Ferrarri the other night when they did the Ford GT show on Discovery channel. It was interesting to say the least. In the super fiat's defense, They may have pushed it alot harder than the GT, but the feeling I got from it was that the Ferarri was trying to catch up with the GT
