Another Accident Post vol. 197

I've been pretty low key on here, not much of a post ***** but I love to read and I've spent many hours perusing the forums. I'm not one to look for sympathy or drama and I know this isn't the first or last crash victim post that we'll ever see. Still, I think (hope) there is something healing about sharing our sad stories, however cosmetic they may be. So here is mine:

Earlier tonight I was stopped at a red light in a line of traffic, exiting a mall parking lot with one right and one left lane, waiting in the right lane to turn right. The lady ahead of me decided she wanted to get in the left lane and backed into me. Her right rear contacted my left front. (not a euphemism) She said simply that she didn't see me. I had the driving/fog lights on (i.e. four headlights!) and had a line of cars behind me. To her credit, she admitted complete fault to the police. There were no human injuries.

Anything like this stinks, but the damage isn't too bad. Any decent shop will be able to put that right quickly.

Yes, a shop should fix, but why not take advantage and get yourself a new bumper (other than stock of course)

I'd scoop up a CS bumper! - or at least a chin spoiler!

And some smoked corner lights!

Glad to hear yours was not extensive. It does ruin your day, doesn't it.

Damage doesn't look bad at all, new fascia, headlight, and fender should be all that's needed...plus the paint of course. I'm assuming this woman has insurance?

People who don't love cars shouldn't drive...

Individuals who see vehicles as mere methods of conveyance are always going to be inattentive while driving, regardless of their genitalia...JMO.

Sorry about your baby, but as others said - make lemonade and UPGRADE!

A reputable body shop will get her back to new in no time...be sure they pay special attention in ensuring your hood/bumper stripes are replaced properly (i.e. lined up right, etc.)...

Thanks for the kind words...only after I posted did I read through some of the other recent accident posts...mine is obviously minor in comparison.

Good: her insurance is valid and she admited fault so I am fully covered and I don't even have to pay a deductible. Signal light needs replacing so I can upgrade to clear corners for next to nothing. Dealing with a really good shop that provides lifetime guarantee on the paintwork. They are to paint and clear coat full hood, bumper, fender and are obliged to properly re-do stripes (added about $500 to the estimate just for the stripes!)

Bad: original estimate is ($3000 and) 8 days in the shop but bumper is deemed repairable so I may not be able to replace/upgrade it...I'm liking the CS/Shelby GT bumper, I like the subtle yet still Ford mod...depends if any bumper tabs are broken in behind...

The cost to repair the bumper is probably more than a new ones or equal. I would push for a new cover. Also +1 to the GT500 if you want to put some of your own money towards it.
