Wouldn't a live IRS on the GT take some sales away from the Cobra, SVT, and Shelby models? Ford makes alot of decisions from a business standpoint but I would love to have it on mine. I'll believe it when I see it though. I bet it's a few years out though.

Sounds to me like it is Foprd saying that this basic chassis will be around for a while, but that it will be continually updated as needed. No real surprise here.

The IRS isn't really what makes the Cobra more desirable (although it is a factor). It's the gobs and gobs of horsepower that sell the Cobra! :worship:

I think a lot of people are missing the big picture! Ford owns the under 30K RWD V8 market for the next year or so. Why not save a couple bucks in the process while they still can? The "possible" move to IRS in 07 is in case we see a new Camaro with IRS.

The "harshness" they talk about in the '05 is the truck (Explorer) engine, which some reviewers say is harsh, i.e., it will never be mistaken for a Japanese V6, but who cares - it's proven to be a reliable motor, and "refinement" isn't even in the top 10 things I look for in a mustang.
If you really want "harsh," drive the original '65 Shelby Mustang. There were no creature comforts to speak of, but it was fast and furious.

I think this news is encouraging, and I hope it applies to the transmission. I've had my GT for two weeks and I'm fed up with the harshness and noise from this Tremec 5 speed. It sounds like a piece of junk. It may be built like a tank, but I don't want it sounding and feeling like one.
I'm off to the dealership tomorrow to talk to them about the transmission. I guess I'll need to get ready for the run around.
