Alternator Question - 05’ 4.0L V6

So I had a problem with my gauges shorting out at certain RPM’s and someone brought up about it being a bad diode in the alternator and that he has upgraded his to a 2010 because the 2010 was updated but he has a GT, I may buy a alternator tomorrow with around 50k miles on it from a 2010 Mustang 4.0 But was wondering if it would work, not much info on it besides 2009-2010 share same part numbers but are different between 2008 and back and could mess or damage the ecu? That didn’t sound right though because an there are many aftermarket alternators that provide higher amps so why would a factory amp even if it produces more at the same rate damage unless the wiring is weak and that I can understand
