Alternator problems?

Anybody having alternator problems? The alternator went out today in my wife's 07 GT convertible with only 8K on it. I don't ever remember having that happen. I just replaced the alternator on my 89 LX after almost 20 years. Just curious if anyone else has seen this.

The alternators on the 05+ Mustangs have been a sore spot for many people. They tend to fail much more quickly than previous years and there are a couple of Ford TSBs on them as well.

I'm on my second, but I didn't let the first one die on me. After getting the P0340 code, I took it to the dealer and they replaced it.

I'm on my 2nd alternator in my 07 GT. The original alternator failed at about 8K miles. It had been making a high pitched whine or squeal for awhile which I'm told was likely the armature brushes set incorrectly at the factory. Alternator failed one rainy day last fall with no only about 5 minutes warning. Car had to be flatbedded to the dealership for a new alternator under warranty. So far, so good on the new alternator, but I wouldn't be surprised if it eats another one in the next year or two.

Well, this ain't sounding too good so far. The dealership had her fixed up quickly, but it was still a pain. Hope this one sticks.
