Ahhh! When is it too late to change an order?!?

I just got word from my friend in Dearborn that my stang's order isn't reflecting the spoiler delete as the dealer assured me it does. The car is scheduled for next Monday (3/26). Does anyone know how late in the process a dealer can change an order? I have a feeling it already is too late. This sucks!

did you not ever get a VOC from your sales guy? I'd be .. If you don't mind waiting, I'd tell them that you won't accept the car if it's not right and to order it again.
If your order has already been bucked, then you got hosed Tommy... you got hosed.

If it's been seralized, which it probably was..., then it's too late. Since the dealer screwed up the order, maybe they'll swap out the trunk lid with another car... I doubt it, but it's worth a try

When I ordered the car they did a generic VOC that I signed off on. Since it was a Saturday, the sales manager placed the order on Monday based on my VOC. He missed it somehow. I stopped in last week to check my priority since the salesman seemed confused when I asked on the phone. As luck would have it, it had just been assigned a VIN. I was looking over his shoulder and noticed the 13D wasn't listed. They immediately updated the order while I was there. A couple days later I called to verify and they claimed to have confirmed it was there per someone who receives the orders on Ford's end. They've already agreed to re-order if it's wrong, but at this point they seem confident that it's OK. As of this afternoon it's not in DORA and I have a bootleg copy of the window sticker and it's not on there either. I have a strong feeling I'll be waiting another 8 weeks. THIS SUCKS!!!

Good luck. I found out that they had screwed up and left of 13D on my order, as well as the 64E wheels. They called someone at Ford, and supposedly got them changed, but the car still showed up With the spoiler, and with 17" bullitts instead of the FanBlades. I had all the paperwork to prove that I had ordered it from the dealership that way, it was their fault for missing those option codes. They swapped the rims from another car (and moved the TPMS over to the new rims) before I picked it up, and 4 months later they got a V6 in without a spoiler, and swapped the trunk over. It was very nerve-wracking though.

Hope you can get a quicker resolution than I did on the spoiler delete.

I was actually willing to take one off the lot if they would swap a deck lid for me. I'm getting black so that meant they had plenty of donors to choose from. They weren't interested. I kind of ordered a bastard with tons of options and base Bullits. I don't get why they carry on with these stories that "we talked to someone who confirmed it...". If it's not in the system it ain't gettin built. I suggested my buddy drive over to the plant Monday morning and hang out at the deck lid fixing station. He can just hand them a V6 lid when my car rolls by.

I was nervous about this too for 3 months, I didn't have any sort of written/printed confirmation of spec before I picked it up.... Luckily, the guy managed to type in the frankenstein options right, but I didn't know that until I was getting the keys. (I even had to crawl under the car in the showroom to check the 3.55 option was on...) How can it be so hard to type in the right codes?

dude all i can say is tell the dealer that if the car come in messed up they will either swap for a spoilerless GT trunk lid or order one with a GT emblem and paint it all for free or you will not accept the car and if they make a scene, you are in the clear because you waited 8 weeks for YOUR car and are not paying for something you did not want

When I discovered it a couple of weeks the ago the salesman agreed that they screwed up and they would definitely reorder for me. That was the only reason I ordered to begin with. Now the challenge is getting them to accept the fact that it's not coming in with the 13D. I'd rather not wait another 3 weeks for them to place another order. I'll also be sitting next to the guy when he enters it this time!

I do believe I answered your previous post about this and said that once you get a VIN (serialized) you can't make changes. Why is it no one ever believes me!!

I DO believe you Steve, but the **** dealer keeps saying otherwise. As of yesterday it's not on DORA and it's not on the window sticker (don't ask). I don't understand why they won't admit that it's not there. If the car comes in with a spoiler as I know it will I'll politely ask for my deposit back and order through another dealer. I've about had it with these guys. It's been a headache since the day I ordered the car!

On that note...can anyone recommend a dealer they've had GREAT service with in the PA, DE, MD area? I have three I can scratch off the list from personal experience...

Many dealerships tell their salesmen things like,"When the car comes in he will be so excited to get it we will be able to talk him into taking whatever defects it has and we will worry fixing it later."

I think that's exactly what's happening here. The only thing is the salesman KNOWS the only reason I ordered was for spoiler delete. I think he's stuck in the middle. From what I've seen of him, the sales manager is a bit of a pompous SOB. It's their issue, not mine. I ordered an oddball of a car so they'll probably have issues selling it. I'm not going to accept it if it's not right. I'm anxious, but not that anxious. My friend suggested that I tell them to put a GT500 spoiler on it and call it done, but I'm not sure I even want that.

Well, the dealer finally believed what I've been telling them all along that they screwed up. So, they reordered this afternoon. This time I made the sales manager order it while I watched him.

I hope the dealer fixes their mistake.

I hope that mine doesn't show up with one. I will be severely upset!

I have to give them credit, they finally admitted to it and let me reorder before the car was built (due to be built this week). They were originally taking a "wait and see" approach, probably hoping I would take it once it was there on the ground. So, another 6 weeks...

I actually ordered my own car and found out I somehow forgot 3:55's. I changed it 4 days before its scheduled date and it came in fine. Had a few business days before the build date though.

Glad to hear that your dealer fixed it.
