how about this my friend.....im 17 going on 18. i decided it was time to stop being supported by mom and dad. they gave me a car to use but im like no this does not cut it. my mom told me if i save my money to get the car i can get it and they will cover insurance. soo i actually just got home from work alittle while ago. instead of stinkin it up and taking a 93 mazda in silence why dont u make ur dad proud and show him ur willing to earn this car. show him that u want it soo bad ur willing to sacrifice anything for it. i save practically every penny i get. i play hockey and sometimes see my friends. i get critsized cuz they say i have no time. but i look at it that if i work now for this beautiful car i can enjoy the crap out of it when i get it and be with my friends. soo dude u can get a job now that ur 15 and u get workin papers at 16. its never too late dude

I would imagine the younger crowd are the early buyers of the 05. Older people seem to get a little conservative as the years go by. (mini-van, sedan, I think you get the idea!). I may be older, but I feel old... wait a minute... I may be old, but I never quite grew up! :drive:

1st 'stang was a 65 in 66, Next was a 67 in 72, 3rd one was a 70 in 77. Kept getting further behind the mustang and I thought they went the wrong way in the 70's. We went a different direction, XKE-Jaguar, 911 Porche, T-Bird. Magnum, Caddy, Trucks .....
We always said in the 90s if Ford ever came back with the 60/70 style with modern technology we would be among the first to buy one.
Ordered our GT in May and took delivery 2 weeks ago.
Now feeling 18 again
btw gave away the mini-van when we got the GT

I'm 50 going on 15 (or so my wife tells me concerning this new Mustang!).
I've never owned a Mustang before in my life (Gasp! Shock!) but in a matter of days I will own my first. I've owned Camaro's (LT1's and LS1's), Firebirds, Trans-Ams, GTO's, 442's, Chevelles, Vettes, and more. I've driven Porsche 911's (Carerra's and Turbos), Vipers (GTS's and ACR's), and I've spent hours and hours of seat time at the tracks.
But I've never owned a Mustang! However, like I said that is about to change.
And I can NOT wait!

This'll be the first stang for me. Good year to get started on em it seems It looks like the 30-50 crowd is well represented here. So much for just the young crowd adopting it early.

The results thus far has not surprised me at all, it was always the F-Body's that appealed more to those in their 20's. The middle age crowd always prefered the Mustang.

49, and the 2005 will be my 3rd Mustang---the first two both 65s (the 6 cyl. coupe in high school/college; the 289/4 bbl. restored fastback parked in my garage right now).
A classic piece of American automotive history....

This new Mustang strikes a chord in my generation's heart and that is why you will see a LOT of 'grey haired', 50 year old guys driving them.
And a LOT of us will be driving them like we stole 'em! (At the track of course!)

Want the exact numbers? This is based on the last 5 years of sales:
23% of all Mustang buyers are under 30
19% are 30-40
46% of all Mustang buyers are 40-59
12% of all Mustang buyers are 60+.
This is the last five years, so it doesn't include 05, obviously. But the bottom line is this car is more about an attitude than an age group. You either get it or you don't.
One of my favorite experiences was sitting in a advertising research group on the '05 Stang listening to an 19 year old Hispanic guy with a goatee, piercings and more tattoos than you could count sharing "Stoplight take-down" stories with a retired 64 year old caucasian grandmother in a knit sweater who drove a school bus part time.
