Chris!!!

I am WAY behind on your pics from your trip - those are AMAZING!

Man I love taking roadtrips and you just gave me the Highway Jones in a BIG way.....

I agree with what John (OCD) said earlier - too often when I am doing long distance trips, I am solely trying to make TIME - and never have enough to stop and look around at the inspiring stuff out htere in this country of ours......

Neal Peart the drummer and lyriscist for RUSH wrote a book called GHOST RIDER that chronicled the 55,000 mile journey he did on his BMW motorcycle - he packed up and hit the road for months after his daughter and wife passed away and just rode trying to find a reason to keep living - and he writes about some amazing places he saw traveling through Canada- down into the US and then into Mexico.....

Geez.... I need some time off from work!

Glad you and Lucky made it safe and sound!!

Frank: Thanks, man. I appreciate that. It's difficult to remember which Interstate saw the most ponies per mile. I think it would have to be I-70, west of St. Louis.

However, I only saw ONE GT between St. Louis and Denver (Castle Rock, actually). It was a black GT. I made a point of looking over to give the guy the thumbs up as he passed by, but he didn't look over. Nor did the girl in the passenger seat. I was a little surprised, to be honest. And a little disappointed that they weren't very amicable to another '05 pony owner! What can you do?

As an '05 Mustang owner, I tried to set a good example for y'all; I used my directionals, kept a discreet distance from the cars ahead of me and kept my cool when provoked by inconsiderate drivers. I was the consumate gentleman, which isn't easy because I've got an Irish temper. :ranting:

Dave: It was way cool bumping into you online the other day. I really enjoyed the chat and I didn't think you'd mind me establishing a buddy link.

I've never heard that story about the guy from Rush. That ripped my heart out. "Ghost Rider" must be an interesting read. I'll have to check that out. I posted most of these photos in the span of a half hour; I sorted them out, downsized them and uploaded them six at a time. It wasn't easy because I'm using dialup! :bang:

Brian: I dined at the Cheapside Bar & Grille. The service was good and the food was great. I had a Kentucky Ale while I was there. I like to sample local microbrews wherever I go.
Good choice! I like the stuff myself. It's on my list of brews to get when I head home in a couple of weekends.

I actually helped brew a batch of that one time...my friend worked for Alltech, KY Ale's owner. That was fun! He kept me in free cases for about a year.

Did you get a chance to try out an Ale8 soda? Kind of a mix between ginger ale and Sprite, it's good.

Let me know if you're ever coming up to around Indianapolis, there's lots of microbrews around here.

Nope, I never tried "Ale8 Soda" but my curiosity is piqued!

I will definitely give y'all the heads up if I decide to head back east, and near Indianapolis in particular. When it comes to microbrews, I trust the locals. I follow their lead!

Beer is good. Ben Franklin said it best: "Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

Homer Simpson said it more succinctly: "Beeeeeeer."

Lalo: Thanks! I'm glad you liked the pix. I took so many. So much to see, but had to decide on a few (yeah, 48 is a few!).

Bob: Missed Texas this time around. I drove from Houston to San Antonio a few years ago. Awesome, BIG state with lots to see. Enjoyed it while I was there, but off my route THIS time. Perhaps, if I head back east I can tour the southern states, including Texas. Just an excuse to visit Nawlins again... love that Cajun cooking!

Can't get enough road behind me. I've got a wanderlust that just won't quit!

Ed, you're a hoot! Thanks for the offer.

Glad you liked the pix, Manny. You're right, a long drive gives you plenty of opportunities to clear your head. Wish I could do this more often, but I'm afraid another trip of that magnitude will have to wait a couple more years! No regrets, though. It was worth every mile. :drive:

Small world, isn't it? That's cool. I was wondering if I was going to run across Kansas City Tim in my travels too...

I loved the arch. I'm a big architecture buff, and I enjoyed learning about this awesome landmark. It rises 630 feet above St. Louis and was constructed in 1963, before I was born! I liked it so much, I purchased a DVD about it's construction!

Yep, I had a "pace car" keep me in line. We were both shutterbugs, so we got hundreds of cool pix to re-live the trip! Don't know when I'll be able to take a trip of this magnitude again!

I like this one, a la "Bullitt" chase scene...
