5,0 stroker crank and flexplate issue

Hello to everyone. I am building 5,0 stroker engine, the block is assembled at the moment, but I got an issue, when started to install new 8 bolt flexplate. The problem is : crank flexplate flange “shaft piece” (Flexplate center hole suppose to go on it.) That shaft is not fully straight shape, in the end, closer to bolt flange, it has expanding conical shape, therefore not allowing flexplate to go fully in on the shaft and touch the plate with bolts, so flexplate cannot be fully tightened to the flange. My engine builder suggested to make small chamfering on the flexplate center hole, so it will correspond to that conical end of the crank flange. Is it ok to do that or no ? Maybe somebody had similar problem. I cant make a photo of the crank now, but will try to draw a sketch, so it is more understandable. I am not from US, sorry for my strange English
