3rd brake light not working (left & right)

3rd brake light not working (left & right)

Helo,

05 torch red convertible
the inner 2 brake lights, left and right, do not work

switched the bulbs, checked fuses and relais,

any idees?

I believe for the 2005-2009 that the two inner-most bars are tail-lights only, not brake lights.

Thanks, what a relief.
Here in Belgium there are only a few mustangs, I never driven behind one and seen the lights.
I also could not find the missing 3rd break light on the wiring diagram. Now I know why!!!
So, now I have to convince the guys at the annual vehicle inspection that they were wrong.
Can't thank you enough.

It's a Ford/Mercury "thing". My dad's '73 Mercury Meteor had the same thing. (For Americans, it's a Mercury Monterey, but a stripped down model for Canada.)

My dad's was Copper coloured, but this is the same car...only the 2 outside lights worked for turn signals and brakes but all 3 were for night lighting.

If you're in Belgium, did you have to get an aftermarket fog light and/or amber turn signals in the rear? They probably rewired the tail lights with extra resistors so you can turn the inner brake lights on as fog rears. That's what they did with my '10:
