2008 Owner Pulled a Spark Plug?

I've read that they changed the head design and plugs to prevent the spark plug problems.

Some places were saying late 07 and others were saying Oct 07 which would be after some of the 08s were produced.

The new plug uses a fully threaded surface. HJFS 24FP appears to be the new plug part number.

If you're an 08 owner and looked at your plug, what does it look like? When was your car built?

This was posted on modularfords and is supposed to be the different plugs.

I'm dying to know the answer to this too. I've got an early '08. I'm out of the country right now, so I'll have to wait until I get back home to check.

It's the truth. All 08's will have the new plugs.

On an F150 board they were saying it started in Oct of 07. That would be after 08s started production. Perhaps they started on the F150 in Oct because of the difference in the production runs?

Is there some document or something that says this?

I'll check my car when I get back home in two weeks. I think I have one of the earliest production '08s.

A couple of 07's have been pulled and have the new style, so I know at least a few have revised designs. I don't know anything other than friend reports and what others have been showing on the forums.

I was going to order a set of Champions. I guess I'd better pull a plug and see what I have first. If my car has the new design I'm going to be very pleased about that.

Does it tell the part number for the plugs in the owners manual?

Noob question: I can't tell from these pictures Does the new design resolve the spark-plug-breaking-upon-removal-issue?

That would be yes, since the new plug is a one piece design by the likes of it.

Now I need to pull mine to verify, I too have an early production 08. puchase date 8/19/09 Vin# 7093

Cool, let me know what version it is. I purchased my '08 on 8/25/07, so I probably have whatever you have.

Under the part number list it has spark plugs but it says see your authorized dealer. It also says that using plugs other than Motorcraft or equivalent may void warranty coverage. So basicly it says we can just stuff some tree limbs in there and see what happens.

If the picture in the OP is accurate, then it looks like there has been not only a change in the plug design, but also a change in the plug hole in the heads. The threads, besides running further down towards the tip. look smaller in diameter and start lower on the plug.

It looks like they went back to a traditional spark plug hole design. Hopefully they have more than 3 threads holding the new revised spark plugs.

OK. Finally had time to pull a plug off my 08. Unfortunately, It's the same Motorcraft 2 piece design part # PZT1F.
So at least for me, no "'New " plug design or head change.

On the plus side the plug came out very easily, no lube and undone with fingers after cracking it loose( no strange noises either)

FYI-This is with 12K on odometer

Maybe someone with a newer unit than mine can check? Last 4 vin# 7093
