Chrome is fine until it flakes off and slices your fingers.

Ford hadn't invented it yet.

My 81 T-bird had chrome on everything... the horn/turn signal stalk, wiper stalk, shifter, headlight ****, mirror control, etc... you name it, it probably was chromed. That is one reason why I chose to not buy any type of chrome interior package for the S197 even if it meant missing out on MyColor and the trip Computer. After a few years, the chrome flakes off the plastic and can slice open your finger. Been there, DONE THAT.

I don't think most of the interior packages are chrome on the Mustang are they?

I thought they were more like aluminum, or something?

I agree, at least the first interior package was chrome. Not so sure about the darker one. Besides, I get the trim on the stereo isn't chrome anyway. Probably some sort of plastic coating. Not that that won't prevent chipping.

I too hate (fake) chrome or anything shiny in the interior and is why I bought a stripped Deluxe. If I can find carbon fiber trim rings for the vents those will be gone as well!

I've quite a few old cars from the '60s, '70s and '80s with chromed plastic interior trim and never had a chrome bloodletting accident.

No illumination behind it, either, which would have been nice.

The thin chrome ring around the **** might have a functional advantage, actually, in that it will make it easier to see at night.

Now all Ford has to do is change the backlight from green to blue like some of the other cars. My mother's '08 Mariner looks great with the blue back lights.

Yeah, it would have been nice if the MyColor changed all the illumination, not just the gauges.

We've been wanting that for ages.
And I remember brad posting a Q and A with one of the designers,
and they wanted it too....

As for the chrome accents...why didn't they add it from 2005?
To give us a reason to upgrade from an 05...duh...
