2008 Mustang Order Guide out!!!!!
Ford has had a "manumatic shifter" since June 1999. It's called SST (Select Shift Transmission). It has been available on the Lincoln LS (with the same 5R55 transmission that the Mustang uses).
My guess is Ford's SST is not available on the Mustang because the bean counters are worried that the extra torque in the 4.6L and younger, more agressive Mustang drivers would cause a major warranty problem if the SST was put on the Mustang.

In any case my point was Ford already has a "manumatic" shifter availble. Ford's SST works pretty well, allows you to hold it in any gear right to redline.
Active theft-system is not "functional requirement" for HIDs. It's "factory requirement" so fORD can make more money out of them. I'm sure HIDs can be retrofitted for around $5-600.
Prices!!!
Looks like minor GT/CS related changes.

Also, they added Grabber Orange back into carryover colors (something they forgot on the 1st one)

What do the %'s mean in the recommended mix section?
Is this an estimate of consumer demand or the actual production figures they will produce; no more no less.
It seems weird to me that only 38% of Mustangs will be GT's and the majority v6's
Just curious

Yup, exactly what it is, and pretty much determines your allotment. Another blatantly stupid move by Ford: Escape Hybrid mix is now 3%, everyone is out and 50 customer's walk for every one we get in. Seems like its hotter now then it was when first released and they are nowhere to be found because Ford doesn't feel like making them.
Got a lot of 07 500's though, good thing Ford told EVERYBODY that it was getting upgraded with more power and styling 6 months after it came out.... If you want to look at a new Freestyle, Explorer, or Freestar on fordvehicles, there is a big flash presentation of the Flex right on the homepage and how great and revolutionary it is going to be when it comes out-next year....I remember when IUP was figured for 5% take rate at first. They surely have the market figured out

Kind of a 'ram it down the consumer's throat' mentality to influence market demand.
I would imagine the supply/demand ratios are hard if not impossible to predict, but why not listen to your dealers as to what real customers want.
Is this typical with other auto makers???
