Those look very nice. If they are the same ones that come on the GT, then I will be very happy that I selected them as an option.

Yeah, that does look good. $595 is supposed to be the cost for that right?

Yes it's a GT 500 front. The 2008 GT and V6 front ends look just like the 2005-2007s.

HID option on the 2008s is $525 MSRP according to this source.

Factory ordered/installed is ALWAYS cheaper than recreating with replacement parts.

NO, NO. Those are not true HIDs. Whats the deal. Why cant they just put the same Xenon HID lights than are on other similarly priced sports cars such as the 350z and S2000
350z...

S2000.....

Its not like Ford has never used them, they are on various Lincolns and Mercury's

jman, what you are showing may or may not be HIDs, but they are in fact "projector" lamps. HID is the capsule/ballast portion. The little round lens has nothing to do with that part, the reflector works just fine. Look for 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC with HIDs and see what I mean. Or '97 and '98 Mark VIIIs for that matter. Not what you're picturin' there.

/squinty eyed mustangs? Bad enough the lights are behind those goofy shields, ya ask me... They oughht be like 67's, flat shields, and painted buckets.
//Will likely modify a set from a wreckin' yard to get that... How hard can it be?
///PLEASE don't answer that.
////Not gettin' the HIDs btw... Not attractive to me... Kinda uglified with that part at the bottom. No, I'll be fine with the regular Halogens, thanks.

No. Various gasses can be used, depending on what you want/need to have happen:

http://www.answers.com/topic/high-in...discharge-lamp
http://www.spitzkraft.com/topic.php?...&cntnt=hidtech

The second one specified Xenon... but you don't haveta.

What's more, that second link tells of the three kinds of systems that you can have... and all of them could conceivably NOT use HID at all, btw. The systems are about light manipulation... the bulb is somewhat secondary (but important, as the arc in an HID and in a standard Halogen are completely different and have different focal points... which is exactly why you can NOT put an HID capsule into a Halogen based system... You have to replace the entire system. Legally speaking, of course, you ne'er do wellers... )

I like that the HID's are finally hitting the mustang. But my only concern is that it's gonna look kinda stupid when the headlights are on along with the foglights.

I kinda like the all 4 halogen look when both heads and fogs are on, with the Xenon it's going to look kind of hokey IMO.

I agree. All should be the same.
Maybe they will be?

x2. You could always convert the fogs to HID also. But that would really get people to flash when running all four.

I'm getting a billet grille so It won't be a factor for me, but I agree that it will look odd if they are different.

Sorry if this is a noob suggestion, but what if you just matched the color temperature on the fog lights? For example, if the HIDs are 6000K, get 6000K halogens for the fogs? They might not be the same brightness/focus, but at least they would all be the same color, which I think would look fine.
