Yeah, no contact from the gas cap to body for me either.
No issues with it getting stuck in the door when closing either.
But I do on occasion have a problem where the stupid teather binds up and I have a hard time turning the gas cap tight.
I have been tempted to cut it off. But I know Ill be the guy who forgets his gas cap on the pump, lol.

Fortunately, I have figured out how to fill the car without any problems from my gas cap. I never even noticed anything that could be remotely construed as an issue.

i wish there was a place to hang it on the door when open, i too hate mine touching the car....

also, my tether is too short, i have to close the door half way to screw the cap in all the way...

annoying!!!!!!
