2. Lighter clutch (I don't like this....seems whimpy)

I wish my clutch was lighter. Is the 05 a cable clutch or a hydraulic?

Hard to see just 25hp out of an S/E....
Not enough of a gap filler between the GT/GT500

Seeing as the GT500 will probably be underated (or corked at first)
I see ford playing the 'we can upgrade these anytime we want' card.

325hp GT, 350-375hp SE, 450HP GT500
If down the line the GT gets up to 350.
The SE's could get 400 and the GT500 can be 475-500

Just thinking out loud.
And then again, the Bullitt S/E didn't have anymore than 5hp....

Yeah reminds me of my clutch... new it's very light... the more you drive it the stiffer it gets... and it's gradual so you don't notice until you have to get a new clutch... then you slam it to the floor the first time and it's like, "whoah that's light!"

If any of you have looked at the many stock '05 GT dyno graphs that have been posted, it's obvious that something is limiting HP above 5,000 RPM. Most of the dyno runs show HP essentually flat from 5K to 6K RPM.

The could be a number of things causing that flat HP above 5K, including the computer program limiting the HP. The Ford engineer I spoke with at one of the '05 tours pretty much said that the 4.6 3V HP was limited by the computer program.

In any case the flat HP curve says to me that it's pretty easy to get a good HP bump on the 3V engine whether it's a software issue of something mechanical limiting intake air flow.

Actually no I couldn't really tell much of a difference - though he did say there were suspension enhancements made. Hopefully to reduce wheel-hop!

Actually, it was only rated at 5hp more. I believe it put out about 10-15hp or so more based on dynos.

Sounds interesting. I'd like to get some more hp from my baby.
Hopefully Kevin will find out some stuff out soon through his parts catalog searches.

Hum...I wonder what they did to bump up the power?
Whatever it was we likely can add it once the 07s are out

Yeah, the last gen GTs stayed at 260 from 99-04
As did the V6...they just changed the rating slightly... 190 vs 193
and went from the 3.8 to a 3.9L engine in the 04 with the exact same rating.

Correct me if I'm wrong, please, but didn't the 99, 00 have only 240HP and get bumped up in 01 to 260? That's how I remember it, but again, I could be wrong.

OK, since you asked for it, I'll correct you.

The 99 intoduced the PI heads with the larger ports. All 99 - 04 Mustang GT 2V engines have had the same HP & TQ rating except for the Bullitt which has already been discussed.

I heard from someone who was paid $125 to test drive an Aviator before they came out. His discription of the test drive was similar to what 05stangGT said.

Horsepower the same...yes...
Engines were slightly different for some reason... something from 99-00 had something different than the 01-04s....
