It doesn't look bad. I'd remove the bar running from the corral to the fogs. I think it would look much nicer that way.

Brad - do you suppose that CAFE is at least partially behind these V6 improvements? The Pony appears to me to be a good way to take some pressure off the GT production issues by offerering a good compromise between outright GT performance and more mundane handling of the present V6. People who are looking for GT on a budget will go for this and those that need the better gas mileage for commuting (like me) will too. I see a huge success coming with this model - especially with manual tranny.

CAFE is a major player. The Pony will relieve some of the demand off the GT so they can sell more V6s.

Here's my own take on all of this:

I have always been a Mustang person; my 1st car was a 1970 Fastback. I've been looking to replace my daily driver for quite some time and nothin's interested me until I saw the S197. I was in love again!

I don't need the V8 to get back and forth to work. I verified that my renting an '05 for a week. Heck, my '88 GT had only 15 more horses than the new V6. Besides I'm restoring a 400+ horsepower muscle car in the garage that will be my weekend car.

But, I still wanted a Mustang that would stand out on the road apart from all the other V6 rental cars I see. The Pony version fits the bill perfectly and now I get an upgraded suspension to boot.

However, I may go for the tape stripe delete. I think the large running horse on the fender along with the ones on the wheel center caps are enough.

I wouldn't consider any of this good news for an 05 owner. First of all, the 06 V6 with Pony Package is starting to look a lot like a GT, with the Bulits and foglights, even though the foglights aren't the same. Sounds like they are trying to make a V6, that looks more like a GT, but for not as much money. Then the 06 GT will come in the Tungsten color, which a lot of people with Mineral Grey wanted (or I did anyway), and the 06's get bigger/better 18" wheels and tuned suspension, and they are going to make 70% MORE Mustangs, which is going to drive '05 resale prices through the floor, especially sense they are the first year in the model with the most "bugs to work out" and people had to pay the most for them since they were so hard to come buy, and some paying MSRP and up.

Anyway, I suppose it is good new to the new owner, but I don't see any good news there for an '05 owner.

Correct me if I'm wrong. And a Hundai or Sebring as a competitor, YGTBFSM!

Two words to that response... no sense.

Is the Sonic Blue rare and expensive and going to hold it's resale better? I didn't realize blue cars hold value more than others.

I don't care about resale value. I don't plan on keeping my car for 30 years either before it will make a profit. Why did you bring up resale value anyway, you never mentioned it in your original post. Your post was saying that MY05 had nothing going for it over MY06 and I disagree. Sonic Blue will not be offered in MY06 and IMO Sonic Blue looks better than Vista Blue. So yes a Sonic Blue S197 is rare.

Not to criticize what you said or anything, but it's not intended to be good news for an '05 owner. It's something for the '06+ owners to look forward to. Not trying to

The point is to make people want to buy the new year's vehicle, which you do by adding/modifying features, colors, etc. You can make the same argument every year, if the manufactuer does their job.

I don't think many 06 owners have been driving their new Mustang around town during the 2005 model year though have they

...or everybody can just be happy and satisfied with what they get. Who cares? Be happy with what you've got. Be happy with what others got. Everybody's happy (and driving a great American sports car tradition!)
Everyone, try this while driving down the road:
05 Owner: "Hey, nice '06."
06 Owner: "Thanks. Great '05!"
Not Yet Owner: "Wow! Love 'em both! Wish I had one!"
Mutual: "See ya!"
Cars: "VRROOOOOOOOOOM!"

YES!! the pony package hits the nail on the head for me. the addition of the upgraded wheels and the biggie: the addition of the rear sway bar to the v6 makes it complete. great option package. jackg 90seville 97k

Yeah, there's no use bickering. This car will do nothing but improve over the years, so just be happy with what ya got! Upgrade when ya can, and give a to those that do when you can't.

I think the grille with the corral and foglights is a little too busy for my tastes, I prefer the plain-jane grille on my GT. I would however be curious about how it would look with just a corral

Chazcron was the first to do it on April 17, 2004. His chop was great.

Yes, I agree with all of you have to say, I was just making an observation from a current owners point of view. A car should be improved on every model year. I love the new Tungsten, but I'm very happy with my current car, and I'm not really worried about resale values, cuz, I ain't selling.

I likey!

Can't wait to see real pics of it. And I was hoping for something other than the Bullitt wheels for the pony package, but it still looks good. Bullitts are getting old though.
