Ok..I think I was wrong. The 2005 Jaguar S-Type comes in ebony, and it states that it is NOT metallic. So, if we are to believe that the ebony used on Jags and Fords is the same, that answers that question.

I too hope it is ebony metallic, but they didn't state that it was. I have a blue pearl black metallic paint on my Honda, and I get compliments on it all the time. It really shows the blue in certain lights.

I was talking to my painter about black paint one day (my Ranger was black), and he told me Ford was about the only company left that used straight black. Chevy and Dodge mixes a little brown or red to give it a different hue. So maybe that's what Ford has done to come up with Ebony. But it could very well just be a name change.

Is the color called "Nighthawk"? If so, I have the same color on my Civic and it gets the same compliments.

Yes, it is Nighthawk Black Pearl Metallic. If I ever paint a car black, it will be in this color.

I had an Acura CL that was Nighthawk Black Pearl, and while it was very nice, I like regular old black better!

Ford may be just changing the name.
I agree, one dealer told me that "Colorado Red" is just another name for Torch Red. My '58 Olds was painted in "Festival Red" and the same year for Chevy featured the exact same color, but called it "Roman Red." So, I wonder if "Lime Gold" for '06 is the same as Legend Lime.

My guess is 06 Ebony is exactly the same as 05 Black....... and that Lime Gold is the same as the 66 Ivy Gold which is the same as Legend Lime. I'd like to see them come out with Ember Glow again.
