I'll bite.... what is the difference? I've seen the new 2006 colors listed and it says "Ebony - new for 2006". Does anyone know what the difference is?

Ebony is spelt E-B-O-N-Y and Black is spelt B-L-A-C-K

Sorry April fools day brings out the worst in all of us.

I have not seen that many shade variations of black. There are differences, but most are not visable. When my 96 TA was being painted I asked the painter about it as he was mixing up the paint. He said that some formulas called for a minute amount of another color to be added to the black.

Ford may be just changing the name.

I agree, one dealer told me that "Colorado Red" is just another name for Torch Red. My '58 Olds was painted in "Festival Red" and the same year for Chevy featured the exact same color, but called it "Roman Red." So, I wonder if "Lime Gold" for '06 is the same as Legend Lime.

I'm thinking that Ford has to offer some basics, standards that everyone expects so they can't muck them up too much. One of those is black. Call it what you want but black is black. Really doubt they will be mixing purple or big chunks of metal flake in it. Agree with others, probably just a name change.

I think I read somewhere that the ebony for '06 will be metallic.

If you put on rose colored glasses and look at it you will then see the difference.

Unless Ebony is metallic, crystal, pearl coat, etc., I doubt there will be much (if any) real noticable difference.

I'm glad you think you are attractive, but what does that have to do with anything?

"Ebony is the new Black!" - some hip fashion designer

"We don't say 'Black,' kids, rather, let's use 'Ebony.'" - some PC person.

"I'm the pretty..." - Andy aka 'AWmustang' has a new C/T waiting for him...

I also think I saw that ebony was a metallic black. I am thinking that some point in the past I researched this and found that FMC had used "ebony" on some vehicle in the past and it was in fact metallic. Have no idea what it was. I may look it up later. I can't right now, as my brain is not functioning very well on this wonderful Monday morning.

I thought it was the F150 Harley that came in Ebony. That would be pretty cool if it was a metallic black like the GTO has.

Yep, the '06 F-150 Harley-Davidson is offered in Ebony. From my understanding, its almost like a "wet look". Not sure if there's any metallic to it or not. You can see some photos of the new Harley truck here, though I'm not sure if they help.
