I wonder what the concensus is inside Roush Performance. Surely not everyone is behind this choice. I would like to see which designs were rejected.
Also, I wonder how much Ford had to do with this design. If they're planning Shelbys, Mach 1s, and Bosses in the near future, they may be discouraging tuners like Roush and Saleen from using a retro theme on their cars.

Is it just me or do the following two quotes from the article have nothing to do with the photo they release?
"...the front end design of the new Roush Mustang is well connected to its racing heritage.."
"To complete the front-end design, Roush added a hood scoop that was reminiscent of his days as a driver."

Maybe its not too late, with all the negative appeal, maybe they will make some changes, not sure when Roush gets their share of Stangs from Ford, but they still have time to correct this blunder...

With all of those good chops they chose this? I am sorry guys but this is to funny. Maybe some of you now know what I was talking about when sometimes less is more on a car. Maybe they will throw in some of those stick on hood pins with them. Oh and some stickers because we all know how rice buckets look better with a ton of stickers on them.

Yep, right here in Alabama the day after I first met him.
Looks like the Roush owners and enthusiasts at FNSweet aren't too impressed either: http://www.fnsweet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15978

bad.
Bear in mind guys, you don't have to use every body kit option they offer. Don't like that gaping hole, don't get that option. I think with a couple changes to the front that's a nice package, I like the rear and hopefully there will be some decent performance upgrades in there too.
Anyone still have that Stage 2 pic floating around? Interesting to see the '05 with velocity stacks.

So those images were real after all? Pretty disappointing, especially when you consider the quality 'chops that our resident experts crank out.
As for the car itself, I think it's so-so at best. The rims are nice, if somewhat plain. The side skirts are pretty non-descript, which I actually prefer over skirts with all kinds of creases and fake scoops. The rear spoiler may actually be to my liking, if I can ever get a better look at it. From that view, it reminds me of the rear spoiler on an Aussie XC Falcon Cobra. Nice car, but it's not a Mustang. No, like all of you, I just can't get past that front air dam. All it needs is several square feet of steel mesh to fill in those gaps, and some 17 yr old "gangsta" sitting in his lowered seat with his sunvisor on upside-down and sideways, limpwristing the steering wheel with one hand while he glares at the world. Yo.

I'm very disappointed. They've had a car to work with for how long, and the best they could show us was a photoshop? Why say the car will debut on September 1 when it's only a computer generated image? This just seems amateurish.
AHHHHHHHHHHHH "honey please wake me,im having a really bad dream! Im dreaming im looking at roush web site, and some crazy mad web hacker has cracked into roushes web page and put up a scary horrid looking pic of a 2005 roush.I can take the dreams of giant purple eating toyotas or even those scary man eating hondas, but darnit honey this is too much, please please wake me!"
If I wanted a "ricer" I would buy a Honda. That is all that front spoiler reminds me of...cars from Fast and the Furious. I want real "American Muscle" not something wrapped in plastic that looks bad.
I am very disappointed in this "rendering"
