Silver Stang- The order number doesn't mean much. If you just ordered it, wait a week and then ask your salesperson for the DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement).

Just got a call from my salesman at Varsity (Ann Arbor). My baby's due to arrive by Tuesday 12 October!!! :spin: Looks like Ford may not be saving us Heartland types for last after all.

I'll even borrow a friend's digital camera for the occasion.

p.s. He said 6 of the dealer's 15 allocated Stangs are due to arrive by the same day....

bananas!
When did you order, what was your build date? [/b][/quote]
Ordered on 25 May. Was a little pissed getting such a high VIN, and even more pissed that as of late September I still didn't have a build date. But then last Tuesday (28 Sept) I got the call saying she had been built on the (week of the) 27th, and that the next call would be with an ETA. That call came this afternoon, and needless to say, it has made my day.

One week for delivery seems fast. I'm just trying to get an idea of when mine will show up. I scheduled for build next week, #6620.
Agreed, but two weeks seems just right

In any event, if the trend holds, you too should be driving your 05 home before the end of October.

cheers!

I can track my order through the ENCS website (military orders) and it shows "SHIP FROM PLANT" dated 2 Oct. So - I assume it is on its way to Florida already. I've emailed my POC at the dealership.....no word back yet.

I dont want to burst anyones bubble, but even if one mustang left the factory I think someone on this forum would have seen it. It must go from the trains to a wide open lot and then get put on a truck. I travel the NJ Turnpike every morning. There is a big car distribution lot right off exit 14a. I look for trucks with mustangs on them and have not seen 1 yet. I see plenty of Fords. Usually when I see a carrier it has mixed models. Considering each dealer only gets a few thats probably what we will see. I know that the second a mustang hits the open air that it will be all over this forum. Thats when I'll get excited.

I hope for everyone here's sake that its soon. I have not ordered one but I cant wait to see them.

This morning I was thinking about how it was in 1964. Back then they just had to wait cause they did not have a fantastic information source like this.

Thanks Brad.

Visited my dealer yestreday (10/6). Saw an e-mail from Ford about ok to ship on 10/1. Latest track on my GT says "released from plant", but the delivery date, as of yesterday, still read "TBD".

This lack of information seems pretty lame, in today's age.

A friend of mine asked me when I expected delivery, I said not a clue (my car has been produced).

He was laughing, and related that with his order of an Audi, information was tracked, and relayed to him at every step... production, loading to the ship, coming off the ship, the distribution center and trucking to the dealer.

Does make you wonder what is going on.

I have seen all that. I just cant believe that no one saw one yet. I can't believe that they will majically show up on the lots. Maybe they are being shipped under tarps or something?

I am not knowledgeable about the storage and shipping process from the plant until the car gets to regional rail heads. Ford ships thousands of cars all over the country by rail to localized "rail heads" where they are unloaded and then put on trucks to be sent to the dealers. I believe the train process is controlled by the railroad companies. The trucks are contracted by Ford and are owned and managed by various trucking companies. The trucks arrive at dealers at all hours. Some dealers have limited unloading areas so they request delivery only at night.
Fords ordering and tracking system, called Conceps, is very antiquated. It is a "green screen" program and Ford is in the process of revamping the whole system to be more modern. Vehicles can be tracked to some extent, ala Audi, but your talking about tens of thousands in the system at a time , vs a couple hundred. If I am really curious or concerned about a particular car, I can call the regional shipping coordinator and usually find out where the car is in the process. I can usually get her to expedite it, if I ask real nice.

Ok, this is just a hunch... but what if Ford is trying to get the Mustangs to these localized "rail heads", and are keeping them there until they have arrived all over the country. And once they are everywhere, then they will begin to load them onto trucks and bring them to dealers. That way, they would pretty much get to every dealer around the country at roughly the same time. That would also give them some more time to get rid of more 04's.

That sounds like a good idea in some respects, but I don't think they do it. I think they try to get the cars in and out as soon as possible. I would imagine things can get clogged up pretty quickly if they keep cars sitting around to long. Plus, trying to coordinate a national delivery day would be pretty tough. And I think you guys would go and crash the fences if you thought they were holding them.

I posted this in another thread so if you have seen this already don't stone me. Is Ford being sneaky? My wife passed 3 Ford car carriers all covered by a mesh material so that you couldn't see inside but you could make out shapes. She said they had cars but she couldn't tell if they were Mustangs. Lets all hope. I left out the only identifiable marks was a 8 by 10 inch pic of a GT on the side.

Just got this from my dealer....

Hey Bill, How's it going?
I received an email from our zone manager on Tuesday the 5th
regarding Mustangs. It did state that they had received the okay to ship
notice and that their goal was to ship 4000 units by Wednesday the 6th.
That's all I know for now.

Rick Keck
Park Ford

This dealer has been great and responded quite quickly....This is in the akron, Ohio area for anybody interested.

That is so cool that you drive by that lot each morning. Be sure to bring your camera with you ! You could easily scoop this whole topic of the stangs arriving at our dealers.

Thanks !
