Just got a call from my salesman at Varsity (Ann Arbor). My baby's due to arrive by Tuesday 12 October!!! :spin: Looks like Ford may not be saving us Heartland types for last after all.

I'll even borrow a friend's digital camera for the occasion.

p.s. He said 6 of the dealer's 15 allocated Stangs are due to arrive by the same day....

bananas!

Do you know the date it was built? I'm assuming from your VIN (1ZVFT82H555105515) it was built this week. One week for delivery seems fast. I'm just trying to get an idea of when mine will show up. I scheduled for build next week, #6620.

Just got the following reply back from my sales guy...!! I ordered back in May...Build/Produced Date was 9/22...

Mr. Brady:

Your car has been shipped from the plant. The computer says that it
should arrive the week of October 10th. I think that is a little
optimistic. I will certainly call as soon as it arrives.

No word on X-plan pricing just yet.

Not too happy about the X-Plan thing...but not gonna haggle but so much...!! Im just glad my Stang is on the way...Now I can FINALLY get the finance crap behind me...and HOPEFULLY have mah new baby wit me when I go to Miami on the 15th...!!!

WOOOOOOOOOT !!! )

You should be able to add X-Plan up by yourself. It is Invoice w/ holdback - 2% + 4%

Note: Not just +2%, its -2 + 4. There is a slight difference when you calculate it.

Yes and No. They are not perfectly sequential, but I think they are sequential in blocks of a day or a week and "random" within that block. i.e. 4000-5000 built today but "random" within 4000-5000.

My dealer just called to tell me my Mustang is "in transit" and he thinks theres an outside chance I'll have it by this weekend. If not, then "very early next week, for sure."

Just a heads up for the Canucks that have ordered their 05s and are waiting for delivery. I certainly don't want to burst anyone's bubble and REALLY DO hope I've received information that'll change, but the latest word on Canadian shipping will be approximately mid November with each dealer in the country receiving at least one Mustang within a 72 hour period. I know that I along with many others have their fingers crossed that this tentative arrival date gets bumped up.
My dealer told me end of November early December I would get it. Personally I wish they shipped them to Canada first since we will be getting snow that time of year rather than ship them to Florida where it is always nice....I know, nobody wants to wait. [/b][/quote]
Always nice in Florida? Three hurricanes through my county in six weeks is hardly nice. We need them down here just to help relieve some stress. Why should we be punished just because some of you happen to live near the arctic circle?

OK, we have learned a ton about the car ordering and manufacturing process. While we are waiting for the 1st cars to show up, perhaps someone could tell us a bit more about the shipping process. For instance ...

Does the factory follow a certain procedure to park the cars for staging in their lot ?
Who loads the cars on the train ?
Do they have different train cars for different parts of the country ?
Is it one big train that gets broken up at a centralized train yard ?
How many cars fit in a train car ?
How long does it take for the train to get to its final destination ?
Who unloads the cars from the train, and where are they staged for their next leg ? How long does it take before they are loaded onto a truck for delivery to the dealer ? Who loads them on the truck ?
Will the truck just contain Mustangs, or will it have other models, and perhaps other manufacturer models ?
Are cars delivered during a certain time of the day, or during the cover of night ?
Where do they leave the keys ?
Who owns the train and trucks, and who actually contracts them, Ford Corporate, the Factory, or the Dealer ?

So many questions ... I thank anyone who could help shed some light on this subject .. it has suddenly become fairly interesting to me.

I spoke with a dealer in PA tonight where I bought my first '97. He indicated that his first will be a black one just not sure if it's going to have the premium interior package. He also stated that he doesn't believe it will be to him till the end of October. This certainly worries me because I don't really want to buy a car just in time for snowstorms so I can't drive it. If these babies are a no show till November, I'll probably just wait and do it in the spring.

He also told me that there are over 5,000 Ford dealers in the country. With that in mind, the numbers being quoted of 2 or 3 GTs per dealer probably aren't far from the truth.

This waiting is getting old.

My dealer called me today.
He said that my car did ship via convoy not train. Good news is that It'll be here the week of 10/14 and guess what...that's next week.

I'm excited... I'm excited.

Well, just to shed a little light...

Until a couple of years ago, there was a BNSF auto depot on my way to work(about 4-5 miles from my house). It fed all the dealers in the area with cars...the cars would come in on the rails and go out on the trucks. The area is now taken up by three dealerships and a cool little test track. Maybe enough space for a few hundred cars...I gotta find out where they moved the depot to...
