2005 Mustang Ownership Poll v6 & v8
#63
I wish I could have voted for "none of the above." On Saturday, January 15th on the way to our pizza place my wife and I noticed two Mustangs out for test drives near our local Ford dealer. One was Windveil Blue, which I favored, and the other was Legend Lime, which was my #2 choice. I was still working on making a real commitment to blue at that point, so I went to the dealership on Sunday morning to stare at them side by side for a while. I decided that the green made the best first impression on me, but that I'd probably like the blue better in the long run. After a while a salesman came out and it turned out to be the guy I'd taken a test drive with a few weeks earlier and he remembered me. We got to talking and I told him just what I was planning on ordering. Almost all of the Mustangs I've seen on the lots have been very Plain Jane and I was planning on ordering one completely loaded, except not a GT. He said that he thought they had one just like I wanted on order for the dealership. (I thought, "Sure - a salesman will tell you anything.") We went inside and sure enough, the car didn't show up on the computer. He said that they drop off the computer between phases of being built - between the order and scheduling to be built and again between being built and being shipped. (I thought, Ha!) Anyway, I gave him my phone number and left. Monday he called me and told me that the car had shown back up on the computer. I went down and sure enough it was exactly what I wanted. After spending a few days kicking around the pros and cons of waiting until March 1st to order and getting the car about May 1st vs. the hassle of trying to turn my leased 2002 Turbo S Beetle back in to VW early, I put down a deposit. The car came in on Monday, January 24th, a day early, and I picked it up that evening. So, I bought a Mustang off the transporter.

Ordered mine on 10-30-04 and was told the car should be in around mid to late December. Called Ford Customer Service on 12-18-04 and found out it was going to be late January or even February before it was going to arrive.
Salesman from another dealership called me on 12-20-04 with a Torch Red GT that was fully loaded like the one I had ordered, so I went ahead and bought it from the lot.

Dealer found the GT I wanted the day I went in to order. After a couple of days of negotiating, said dealer could not acquire the car, so I bought the car off the owning dealers lot and saved $900. Had to drive an hour and fifteen minutes to get it, but it was worth it to not have to wait for IUP. Took delivery on 12-14, build date 10-04. Black GT, IUP, Bullitt wheels. LOVE IT!!

I sorta got what I wanted.. I got the color I wanted and the Auto trans. However I would've liked the My Color and the IUP wheel and auto shifter but I didn't really care for all of the silver trim. I guess I'll be totally satisfied when I add the My Color option, the wheel and the auto shifter. thanks to you (my color test mule).

I ordered mine on Feb 11th and should have it for April~May (Canada). I will put my '03 up for sale in mid March when the weather gets better, so no big rush for me.
If you are in the Montreal area, I can't say enough good things about Ostiguy Ford in Richelieu. I live way on the other side of the island, but they are worth the drive, very nice people and great price .
Paul.

See sig... Hubby placed the order for me as a birthday gift, he didnt order exactly what I wanted, but, oh well! I adore my car, and planned on modding it anyway, so the missing order specs arent a big deal.
