2 things I'm dying to know for MY2008

Will there be a new special edition for 2008?
What are the new colors for 2008?

Somebody out there has gotta know something.

Grabber Blue

And any performance SE would be sweet, heck even just a little performance upgrade...but yeah, where is the news already?

I doubt there will be anything beyond the GT/CS. The Ford 2007 model year PowerPoint that was floating around here and on BlueOvalNews mentions the GT/CS is for model year '07 and '08.

I hope I am wrong!

With a GT/CS and GT500 for '07 and '08 and Ford's financial situation, I think it would be hard to justify another Mustang with increased horsepower between those 2 cars at this time. Various Ford folks talk about it, but those development funds have to be tight now.

My prediction is we will see the next one when the refresh happens, sometime in calendar year 2008.

Again, I hope I am wrong. I'd love to see another Bullitt.

It's not even 2007 yet.... What are you asking about 2008 for? Dang, that's a long time to wait.

Model year 2007 is definitely here for the Mustang, so we can probably expect the next one will happen about 12 months from now.

2008s will be out in ~10 months. Placing an order for a 2008 is only ~7-8 months out. What's 8 months when you've been waiting for over 2.5 years and you are in no big hurry.

Many people including myself would hold off on purchasing a 2007 if they knew their favorite color (e.g. DH Green, Grabber Blue) was coming out in 10 months, or that a desireable SE was coming out next year.

Just think if a person purchased a 2000GT, then the 2001 Bullitt came out and they wished they had waited a few more months, or you purchased a 2002 GT and the Mach 1 came out it and it was what would would have bought if you could do it again.

I just want to make an informed decision before I plop down ~$27K. I plan on holding on to this car for a long time and therefore want to be happy with it for a long time. If there are no new colors that appeal to me more than what's currently out there; or there are no new SEs, then I might as well purchase a 2007.

Sorry if you can't appreciate this rationale.

AFBLUE, buy the '07!

I was with you in the same decision making mode - waiting to see if anything came for '08. If another V8 Mustang came between the GT and GT500, I theorize I'd be paying mid-30s BEFORE the dealer mark-up. The remarks in that Ford presentation about the GT/CS convinced me to order now.

The GT has some decent power from 87 octane gas. The aftermarket has plenty of styling and performance options. The GTs seem to be holding their value reasonably well, so if something did come out for '08, you probably could sell the car and get decent money (provided you were limited on your modifications).

Good luck in your decision.

What if Tungsten disappeared or Dark Highland Green appeared? This is a purely hypothetical question!

Well in that case.... why not save up some more money and get another part time job and just bypass the 08' Mustang all together? Save up for two years and buy a friggin used Viper. You'll forget all about the color of car you were wanting after that.

I mean... I don't want to seem like an *** or anythig, but you guys are acting like you are getting some kind of a unique car or something because of the "new" color. New Mustangs are everywhere now and popping up like roaches, just like I assumed they would back in 04'. A few days ago, I saw 3 new stangs going down the road in a line and it's getting annoying. They're friggin everywhere and who cares what color they are. When you get the color you want in 2008, you'll se another car going down the road with a better color and you will be all upset, so why make suce a big beal over colors, when there are plenty of nice ones to choose from now? If anything.... Buy a used 05' and when the year 2008 finally gets here, take it to a paint shop and get a bad *** custom paint job. Then it will be unique and probably even better for the money. Heck, if you do wait for the 2008 color you want, your neighbor will probably have the same thing and then you will hate the color. It's not like it's a Ferrari... there are going to be billions of them on the roads by 2008, lol!

My desire for getting a car in the color I want is not because I want it to be "unique" but rather because if I am going to be purchasing a new car, I want it to come the way I want it, i.e. in the color I want.

I am happy enough with my current Mustang to just wait.

And generally I don't think people like Mustangs because they want something unique, the Mustang has always been the "everyman's" dream car - a pony car. That is what makes the Mustang great is the great community out there, from performance gear-heads, to people who just cruise and like the way it looks, we all still appreciate the other's car and love the Pony!

Mineral Grey is looking better and better since it was a 1 year only color.
