10000 Mile Check Tomorrow

Hello everyone!

"Thor" is going in for his 10000 mile check tomorrow. Is there anything I need to know beforehand?

Jon

If I were you, I'd make a list of all the problems (if any) there are with the car, cross-check that with the list of TSBs available for your MY (2005 or 2006) and make sure the service manager is informed in advance of all the work you want done on the car.

I agree with the above post also if you are having any problems that require a test drive by one of the techs make sure you write down the exact mileage on the car, wouldn't want them putting 40 miles on it to "test" the breaks now would you.

Search the threads on Ford Service and pray.

That's what I'd do. Unless there are problems with the car, keep it out of there.

I agree, I'm not bringing the car into the shop unless there is an issue. a) I don't want to take off and put back on my mods for some guy to check the fluids, strip the bolts why they are checking fluids, and then fill it up too much, not enough, or with the wrong fluid.

That's just me.

Ditto. I have not taken my car in for 1 "routine" check-up and she still runs like a champ.

I guess it depends on the dealership. Out here in Denver I've found a dealership who has no issue with the mods I've added. In fact they offer their clients the opportunity to add mods to their cars at the time of purchase. This allows the customer to roll up all the cost of the modifications into their financing. Reminds me of what alot of dealerships in the 60's did (i.e. Tasca, Baldwin Motion, etc). I actually bumped into several of their service tech's out at the local dragstrip who were running a pair of Mustangs (a '93 Cobra and an '05 GT) so needless to say they know their stuff.

Some might be fine with it I'm sure, but none around here. The dealership I bought the car from tried to void my brake warranty because I painted my calipers. The service manager then proceeded to try and explain how painted calipers would snap my parking brake cable underneath the car next to the driveshaft. Then he just said that I sabotaged it so when one of his techs pulled up on the parking brake on the ramp it snapped so they would do the service for free.

Needless to say after a few words and getting the GM ot there, they fixed it under warranty and I have not been back since. They lost how much potential warranty and non warranty work because they didn't want to fix 70 dollars in parts in labor?

Obviously that service manager is full of .

I would love to have him stand there and explain such stupidity with a Ford rep present.

I can't swear by my dealership, but I'm not swearing at them either.
Let the buyer beware - ignorance is not good.
...I change my own oil just to take a regular opportunity to look over her underbody. Yeah it might save a few pennies, although it takes some effort. To me just a labor of love for my pony.
