Well you guys have sold me. I bought my Xcal2 locally. I'm looking for someone that can give the tunes I need and want. Doug sounds like the man to get the job done. Thanks for sharing all this info here...

Just an update. I got impatient and went home today at lunch to upload Doug's tunes onto my XCal and then tune the car. Doug sent me the 93 torque tune right before I left... only about an hour after I e-mailed him and asked him to make me up a torque tune also (thanks, Doug!). After tuning the car with the 93 torque tune and driving back to work, I have to say that I am extremely impressed. It's like I'm in a totally different car. It pulls hard at all rpm's. I didn't have a chance to floor it 0-60, but I can tell just by toying around on city streets that it's well improved. Another very satisfied bamachips customer here.

Ian lemme tell ya - Dougs magic with the Xcal II is no joke.
Back when I had my 88GT it was my first real high powered rear wheel drive car. And first stick at that. I learned real quick how easy it was to break the rear loose especially on WET pavement. (learned the hard way of course)

With the 05, even with the first tune from DTP, different story being an auto. I would have to try real hard to break the tires loose and on wet pavement it was a decent push of the pedal and when it happned, easily controllable.

Today was the first real heavy rain since install..... and after an incident last week I have learned I have to change my thinking about how I drive the car with this tune. This thing makes torque no DOUBT. Its back like driving my old 88 stick - I have to be actively thinking about being careful going around a corner in the wet cause if I lean on it, that sucker will instaly break the tires loose. Plus, the thing last week, my buddy was driving behind me after lunch break at work. Stop sign, I have to make a 90 degree left hand turn. Figure I'll give him a show about what the new tune is about - oh boy did I give him a show. Half in to the corner and the tires just break loose - so I calmly go to drive out of it like I normally do (with the previous tune) and don't ease up on the gas - big mistake. With all the extra torque and the tires already broken loose, the back end starts doing a major dance all over the road.

So yeah I learned pretty quick what Doug can do with an auto tune. :worship:

(tell ya - I wasn't expecting it though after the driving the car the way it used to be for close to a year - it really scared me for a sec there.)

Burke0011,

Today was the first day its rained here since my reprogramin' as well. I'd just like to say I learned the same way you did, the hard way

didn't spin or anything, just got a 'little' loose, taking a right hand turn

I Cant say enough how impressed I am with my tune, just gotta be extra carefull.

Dave, I hear you, bro. I got to stretch her legs a little on the ride home. It's a little scary. Definitely got to accelerate a little softer in the turns. What's really impressive is when I was cruising in some pretty heavy stop and go traffic... when you are in first gear just crawling along and then cars start to move, you just touch the pedal and the car jumps putting you in the back of your seat. This car stock had a really light accelerator, and had to relearn how to accelerate from when I drove my wife's car for a while. Now, I have to relearn all over again. You have to just barely touch the pedal or the front end is gonna jump up. Kinda fun though. Another thing I noticed, when driving around 40-50 in OD... the throttle response with Doug's tune, and OD on, is equivalent to stock with the OD off. The response is right there, even with the auto. I turned OD off for a sec and it's amazing how quick she wants to go. No lag at all. Never thought a $25 tune would make this much of a differece and make me this happy. One day this week, I'll get out on this abandoned highway close to my house and get some numbers with my g-timer. Then, I can officially compare 1/4 mile, 0-60, and HP numbers B.D. and A.D. (before Doug and after Doug, of course).

Edit: By the way, I get home tonight and I finally have cable and internet after almost 3 months. That didn't even excite me as much as Doug's tune today. Does that say something, or what?
