what if i were to make a billet aluminum piece to snap on under the headrest that would hold the seat belt there and keep it off your neck at the same time? plus it would look good in billet aluminum.

i could sell them real cheap too. what do you guys think?
That would be something I would buy. I'm just under 5' 10" and the belt feels like it wants to slice my head off - lol.

finally!

man, I have been looking for something like this for more than a year!
I would consider anything: retrofit of this new part to my 06, someone making a billet aluminium part, etc...

Red face

I bought a cheap seat of seat belt "clips" at Walmart. About 3 bucks for 2 of them. I am 5'4" tall and was getting choked by the seatbelt. It works pretty well for me, but would be interested in other options.
No way I am putting those "things" shown on the '08 in my toy. They may be functional but just "Looks wrong" from the pictures....

I would buy one. I would definitely buy one. I use a stupid hair clip to keep the belt from getting too tight so it doesn't decapitate me. Then the belt is always sliding tight again because I can't have the clip that tight so it will retract in case of an accident, so I have to push the clip back up....it is a TOTAL pain in the butt.

I don't think I like what I saw on the '08 either though. Why can't they just put it on the seat, ya know, like it was on my '98. They had it right then, what's up now?

There's a 4" strap on the lower corner of each seat, the strap goes from the lower side of the backrest and there is a magnent 'button' at the end of it

Just wish they would have these issues fixed before they built the cars! My Explorer has an adustable height belt , which makes it better, but then it catches my hair when retracting and that hurts! I stopped that by putting a seat belt pad on it, but it looks like cr#p on my Mustang. ( I did try some Ford racing pads). They got returned because they just did not fit. Car dealers need to realize that there are different sized people buying their products and make safety equipment work for all of us without taking shortcuts which may jeopardize the effectiveness........

i was just poking around in my car and noticed i have the straps with the magnets too. kinda handy. but they still only bring the seat belt forward a little bit at the top, which is where you reach for it. nice concept, weak attempt

I think it works great myself, I hated the old loops on the top of the seat. The 08 is silly because it 'ratchets' out to one extended postion. When you get out you tend to click it back down with the slightest tug on the belt, moving the belt even further back then it was..

Was just posting a pic of a custom interior on one of ours, didn't notice the silly extender until now:

Strange, my '06 has magnets on both sides. Also strange is that mine work where others say theirs don't. I have one of the first '06's built (Day 2).

How many of ya'll complaining of the "sawing" belt have the FREE belt extentions that plug into the buckle? I got these the week after I bought my car and the belt hasn't cut into my neck at all.

The magnets work great. Never had them come undone. Must be some uncoordinated people that just grab stuff like the monkeys in Samsonite ads.

Seriously? Never seen it. Is it dependant on no airbags in the seats? I'll take a boo in a few minutes when I leave.

I do wish the belts were height adjustable like umm every other new car I've owned in the last 7 years. Ah well, it's all the rest of it I love. For it sawing on my neck I often wear collared shirts or jackets so that's ok. When I'm in Tshirt mode I just gather up some extra cloth on my neck, lol.

Funny enough the new setup has a very loud CLICK when it ratchets into position, now every test drive starts with 'what the hell was that?'
