Looks like step backwards in my opinion, doesn't look very sturdy either - something else to break and pay through the nose to replace.

My old Cavalier had a plastic hanger retainer that attached under the headreast on the two headrest dowels and that worked pretty good. You could easily remove the belt for rear seat access.

It didn't take long after getting my Mustang to realize what was missing in the seat belt dept. The gas pedal made that gripe go away, though.

hmmm now that I've seen the updated pic I'm not so sure on these. I may still get a SN95 style and install under my headrests

 

The old SN-95 style would sometimes have the end of the belt sliding through the cutout, causing it to get frayed over time(not dangerous, but ugly).

i hated those things on my '03.....I think its better to not have them.

hey i just got an amazing idea...

what if i were to make a billet aluminum piece to snap on under the headrest that would hold the seat belt there and keep it off your neck at the same time? plus it would look good in billet aluminum.

i could sell them real cheap too. what do you guys think?

 

i could make them so they look good too, not so big and nasty like the cavalier ones.

 

i just looked at the headrest on my stang, and i could easily make these to fit and work great, i just couldnt get the headrest off..

how does it come off? it only comes up so far and there are no spring loaded retainers holding it on. it feels like the right side one (passenger side) post has a catch at the end.

any one have a seat schematic to see how they come out?

 

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong, I've not seen this... but... The way the thing should work is you fold it back to be vertical on the B pillar. You then swing the covered lower area of the seat belt towards the back.. and there you go. It is out of the way.

It's just like my '96 TBird does... Everyone knows to hide the belt along the sill and up the side. No problem... I do it for them when they get in the back.

I think it's awesome. First saw this on the Solara when it came out and thought "THAT is something they all should have if they are a two door."

One last thought... who the heck gets in the back of a Mustang since '73?

(My '78 II had the seats folded down, and people layed down in the back. They didn't like bumpin' their heads... heh.)

My '06 has snaps. It is a "Job 2" model (built in 1/06), so maybe yours has an earlier "Job 1" build date ?

 

They were on the original S197 CP cars, but Ford ditch them back then, and went to the mag. strip.

The same type of design is used on the BMW 3 series and G35 coupe.

They are actually nice and rotate down and out of the way for people getting in the rear seats

The magnet/strap was effective and ingenious, now in two years they have tried two other things to do the simplest of tasks that they had already had solved. The 08 setup seems to work ok, but looks a little silly and is no better then the original strap. It looks like an orthopedic brace sticking into the interior.

My 06 (Aug 05 build) has magnets on both passenger and drivers side. Work great...can't understand why Ford got rid of them.

 

I like to ride around town with my windows down and it's very irritating that the belt on my 07 flaps in the breeze. The sn95 clip sounds like it may work. Here's hoping someone will do a write up on some of the solutions offered in this thread.

 

On both my SN95's the seat belt still flaps. Not as much probably, but it still does.
