08 GT occationally not starting - not cranking

Title says it all. First happened when I turned the key and didn't hold it long enough to start it. Next time I turned the key - nothing - engine didn't even attempt to crank. Eventually after taking the key out several times it cranked over and started instantly. This has happened several times. I now have 1200 miles on it total. Today, I simply turned the key on (but not start) as I put my seatbelt on. Then I pushed the clutch and turned the key to start and got nothing. all the interior gauge lights and radio and such turn on. Is there a time limit to start and maybe I shouldn't turn the key then not turn it all the way to start? Or does my starter have a bad spot?

this part kinda makes me think it's
passive anti theft system related....

it could also be something in the ignition switch....

sorry but i have to recommend a dealership visit
for this one...

I agree, let the dealer sort it out. There isn't any sort of timer or anything for starting.

OK, that's what I wanted to know. This does have active antitheft system.

Do you have a tuning device connected? I had some similar issues that went away when I disconneted my Xcal2.

Ive noticed mine to be quirky when starting also. As long as I completely push down the clutch and wait a second it will start, if I dont wait that second I get nothing. I then have to turn the key to the off position before I can start it. Ive owned 13 manual transmission vehicles before this one and have never seen this before.

p.s. I have an xcal 3 but the issue is the same before and after the tuner was connected.

Do any of you guy's with the problem have an aftermarket alarm ? I had a viper put in my car and this some caused starting problems because of some erroneous signals it was sending to the smart junction box ...

i did that one just dident hold the key long enough, tried again and it started up...... make sure your pushing the clutch all the way to the floor cause the starter wont go until its all the way down and you hear like a tick

Make sure the clutch is all the way down. It can be picky even though the clutch is technically fully disengaged.
