One thing I forgot to ask when I ordered mine was about the rear axle ratio. Does the manual transmission come standard with the 3.55 ratio and the automatic a 3.31 or do both have a 3.31 and the 3.55 is an option on the manual only? Also, how much difference would you notice between the two and how would it affect 1/4 mile times?

Hi Chip,

We'll have to keep tabs on our cars... see who gets theirs first! Had I ordered an '06, it was between VB and TG. Once I heard Grabber range was coming, I threw out the first two choices, LOL.

Hope we get them the same week! In July!! (I can dream, can't I?)

It looks like the 3.55s are an option now. My old boss who had a 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 and ran a supercharged '97 Cobra at the drags said the 3.55s were the best way to go. I haven't run mine yet, but I hear that you don't have to shift out of 3rd with them. 3.31s you should be able to stay in 3rd,but you will lose time in the critical first few feet.
It is the lowest stock gear and if you aren't going to aftermarket lower gears it is the way to go.
I would make sure you are getting 3.55s.

By the way, NICE CAR. Love the color.

From what I understand, the 3.55 isn't standard on the manual. I ordered it on mine, and I think the option code was 455, but you should check the order guides that are posted to be sure.

I went and added the 3.55 rear axle ratio this afternoon. While I was there was told I've now got a VIN #. As of 4/21, order has been submitted to Plant.

Pitpup.....yep, it would be cool if we got them the same week...maybe even the same day. I'm hoping for early/mid July so I can take it to Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach.

Bob......late June works for me too!

Donna.....was hoping you would have been down in Lexington at the Mustang and Ford show this past weekend so I could introduce myself.

the dealer i bought my 04gt from said they are going to let people add the power packs from FRPP and still let them keep their warranty. he also said a new option is color keyed interior that matches the exterior of the car. they just happen to have a grabber orange on its way : )

Good deal on getting a build date so soon. I placed my order on 03/20 and still haven't been scheduled yet. Why are orders placed in April getting scheduled & build dates before orders placed right after the order banks opened in March?

Good question, I'm in the same boat. I placed my order April 1st and have basically been in temp hold for weeks. I haven't been able to get any update from ERL at all this week. I call, provide all the info, and the system immediately trys to transfer me to an analyst. Is anyone else having the same problem, or are you all getting updates normally?

They schedule the builds based on the options of the car. they'll do a bunch of one color together, plus the engine/trans combo is a big part of when cars are built, too. There's been a lot of discussion on that, take a look around, I know we were discussing it in the fall of '04, when they first started coming out.

I still have to check on mine this week, but I sorta hope it stays clean/unsched for a while, so I can go with the plans I have for picking it up. Otherwise, I might have to just sufffer through getting it early.

Bob, I was having the same issues until this morning. Instead of using your VIN, try using your order number. In the mean time I was calling Ford Customer Service. They were very helpful.

Well, today was a good day for my order! I been on "temp hold" since April 21st, then this week I went into a "no status" phase from the ERL, but I got word earlier today that my order was submitted to the plant and is scheduled to be built the week of June 12th! Let me see.....that's less than 3 weeks away!!!!
