Hi guys

I just got back this weekend from picking up what I "thought" was my dream mustang.
A torch Red/Red Leather Interior w black accents/premium package GT.

I had to drive from Minnesota to South Dakota (7 hours to get this car.)

I got to the dealer and was looking at the car, everything was perfect....except it was an automatic!!!!!

I wanted a manual 5 speed, but I decided I might not get this chance again so I bought it anyway...

Now im wondering...should I start looking for the same car in a manual and get ready to drive hundreds of miles again...or should I use my X-Plan pin and order and 06 and when it comes in...trade this car in for it?

Help please.

Also I would like to know if I keep it until an 06 order comes in should I do any exterior/interior mods....like dimming mirror/window louvers/lemans stripes?

Well,
If you are that dead set on a manual I'm not sure why you wouldn't have just ordered the '06 the way you wanted it and waited. I do understand the need for speed.

I would keep the mods to a minimum.

Do not trade the car in.
You will do a lot better selling it on your own.

Good luck.

I would X-Plan an 06 ASAP, and sell this one like a month before the ETA for your 06 so maybe you can break even or be close.

I think that will be my plan....now the only question is should I do any mods to it, or keep it stock until the 06 comes in.

I love shifting gears and all but driving 35 miles one way to work in stop and go traffic can be quite annoying at times. And they have geared them to perform nearly the same...not ashamed to say it I would drive the auto. But then that would mean my wife would drive it. Nevermind

I drive about 20 miles to work in stop and go as well (Minneapolis traffic stinks)

however I just feel as though Id be missing something if I dont have the stick.

Like part of the mustang experience is the manual connection with the car.

I put a auto dimming mirror in my Stang and love the thing. The again I do not plan to sell or trade the car.

I say to you, if you have the means of owning a 05 Mustang GT(nothing wrong with auto trans) and can order an 06 on plan! More power to you.
After years of shifting and pressing clutch, I got an auto and don't regret it one bit! Drive it till the 06 is about to come in and sell it. You won't have problems selling it, thats for sure!
Mods can be done, but I would do ones that can be taken off and saved for the 06.
Happy Trails!!! B)

Which freeways do you drive in the cities? I used to have a manual transmission car for a daily driver. If this is going to be your daily driver, I don't think you're going to like it after a while. Manuals stink in Minneapolis traffic.

I would keep it and enjoy it...I got a 5-speed and enjoy it, HOWEVER, in the stop and go traffic it can get tiring AND it seems many people like to stop 4 - 6 inches from my bumper on a hill.

You've got a Mustang GT. Many people have waited months and will not receive theirs until 06. Many people can not afford a GT due to financies or Insurance. Yes, it's not a 5 speed...but enjoy what you do have. My .02 worth.

Definately keep it stock, much easier to sell (private, not trade!)

Get the 5 speed, unless you give in to the 'oh my leg will start to cramp if I drive over 20 miles!' category.

Heh

Well to answer the one guys question I will be driving on I94 west from Woodbury everyday to Minneapolis and then back.

I must say I do like the car, the auto is nice, I just feel like im missing something , like a connection to the car not having a stick.

So Window louvers and stripes can both be taken off correct?

Are any dealers taking orders for the 06's yet?

Maybe im just being a whiny little bi**h but I am going to keep this car for a while and I want to make sure I have the one that im going to be happy with in the long run.

If you are not happy with the car you bought, don't just settle. Go and get what you really desire. You will be able to get good $$ for the car you bought and then buy what you really wanted in the first place.

I wonder if I left my GT at the dealer ship if they would let me take a V6 manual out to see if I want to deal with the hassle of shifting all the time.

Think a dealership would let me drive 25 miles to test out the manual in traffic?

Also

I know the window louvers will come off easy enough, but if I get vinyl stripes are those easy enough to get off before I would trade it in or sell it?

What you don't want I know 100's of guys that would want it. There is nothing wrong with the GT's with AT , they are FAST-----You'll be able to sell it quick and put in your order for an 06.
