I am wondering if any of the 05's are having this problem. I have 6200 miles on my car and it's been doing this since I bought the car. But, it's now louder than the shaker 500. When your accelerating at 40 and up it sounds like a jet plane, take your foot off the accelerator, it stops, continue to accelerate and it roars for you. I have an appointment for tomorrow to have it checked out.

This is borderline where I'm not sure if it's a joke or a serious manner.

But that's the nature of the beast as you describe it.

There is a TSB on axle whine:

I also seem to remember some people having to get their ring and pinion gears replaced because they were not quite correctly installed, resulting in a grinding sound coming from the rear end.

Thanks, I talked to the guy in the sales office and he said this wasn't a normal sound and Ford is having a major problem with the rear ends. My 05 F150 has a popping noise in the rear and it goes in after the stang :bang:

 not sure it's nature of the beast. I am a member of 3 mustang clubs and none of these car owner's have the jet plane sound like this. I was told to expect it to be there all day and parts to be ordered and yadda yadda yadda. So, this dealership is aware of the problem. I will let the forum know what I find out.

ok I went to the dealership and they agreed the noise isn't normal. A TSB has been filed for 2004 and 2005 mustangs along with other Fords. They have ordered (excuse the spelling) rack and pins and shift differential, or something to do with that. When the parts come in and they put them on, I can tell you more. They said it's not a recall just if you have the symptoms come in and they will fix the problem. I told them the 2005 F150 will be in as soon as the stang is fixed.

This noise is one of the reasons I'm hesisitating on buying a new GT. I'm waiting for Ford to address the issue with their supplier. My 99 GT was dead silent, but both of the 05 GTs I've driven have had rear gear noise on light decelleration in part of the range between 60-40. One was worse than the other, but neither of them would have been something I'd want to listten to every day.

I hope the repairs are successful.

This was an issue with the 2004 and now the 2005's . It's also an issue with the 2004 and 2005 F150's. It's also an issue with several of their other models, the list was so long, I couldn't catch all of them. They didn't give me a copy of the TSB, I looked over their shoulder and read fast. Had I known this  , I would have saved my money. I had to pay an extra 5,000 because of the addendum and now this  . Not counting what I have paid for all my mods, I am not very happy right now and your smart to wait.

ok the parts are in and the car was put in the shop on Tuesday the 20th. The car is still in the shop as I type. Maybe it means they are doing a thorough job or they may have found more wrong with it. I'll keep you posted.

It shouldn't take but a few hours to replace the parts, unless they installed them and sthe car still made noise and they didn't want to return it to you with the same problem. I'd give them a call and check on it tomorrow if you haven't heard anything by mid morning.

I'm just keeping up with this problem, since I'm thinking about ordering once the Darker IUP becomes available and I can see some pics.

I figure once they got in there, it may have been more to it. I am telling you to think twice before you buy. I didn't do my research very good before I bought the 05  Now I have sunk so much into this car and not sure if they'll ever get all the kinks out of it. It scares me, the rear end started this before 1000 miles. I had a van that had 300,000 miles on it before I had rear end noise.
I never heard anything today from the dealer and I will be patient with them.

Ok the Banana Baby is fixed and I just brought her home. This is what the service report said. Noise I reported was caused by bearing. They replaced Ring Gear and Pinion and also replaced Bearings and D seal. I drove aprox. 25 miles home and she doesn't have the roaring noise anymore.

One of the many things I have w/ mine too. I need to make a list and just say order all this stuff and once you have it all, I'll bring it in for it all to be done at once.

I also had this same issue w/ my last one... a 2000 Mustang Vert. Took them 3 tries of having the car a week at a time to get it fixed right. :bang:
