Not what I see. For those who can't acess AOL and the lazy,

What Edmunds.com Says

Not merely a retro reskinning, the newest Mustang improves its performance in all areas and offers V8 enthusiasts a tempting price tag.

Overview

Introduction: The Ford Mustang debuted in April of 1964 and became a national sensation. By the late 1960s, the Mustang competed against the AMC Javelin, Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger, Plymouth Barracuda and Pontiac Firebird. But, like Elvis Presley, the Mustang had evolved from lightweight and simple into overweight and flashy. By the time the oil crisis of 1973 hit, the Mustang had lost its edge in terms of performance and appeal. Reborn for 1974, the Mustang II rode on a Pinto platform to save development costs and improve fuel economy. Emissions regulations had stifled performance, and the convertible model had disappeared from the lineup. Still, Ford wasn't ready to give up on the Mustang. In 1979, it was completely redesigned. There was even a performance model with a turbocharged 2.3-liter, four-cylinder engine. The new Mustang proved popular, and by 1982, Ford had endowed it with a relatively strong (for the time) V8 engine and the GT designation that continues today. A new car arrived in 1994 wearing retro styling cues such as tribar taillights and a side scoop. Inside, a dual-cowl dashboard provided plenty of pizzazz. A coupe and convertible were available, with either a V6 or V8 engine. Time marched on, however, and the Mustang was in desperate need of a more modern platform by the turn of the century. Enter the 2005 Mustang. The canted nose with its big grille and round headlights recalls the '67 to '69 Mustangs, while the side sculpting, fastback roofline and taillights recall those ponies of the 1965 vintage. Even the triangular side windows are reminiscent of what Carol Shelby did when he made the 1965 Mustang "2 + 2" (a.k.a. the fastback) into his Shelby GT 350. The new Mustang's interior is unique and matches the exterior design theme. Obvious old-school influences are found in the instrument panel -- a dual-hooded dash with aluminum accent panels pays obvious homage to the 1967-'68 Mustang, as do the big speedo and tach, circular air vents and plump, round steering wheel hub. Changeable backlighting illuminates the nostalgic instruments; at the press of a button one can select from white, blue, green and orange hues. For power, the base Mustang uses a 210-horsepower V6, while the GT packs a 300-horse, 4.6-liter V8 with variable valve timing. There's also a new suspension that features lighter weight components, repositioned and lighter coil springs, a stouter rear axle with more effective control arms and bigger brakes. The result is a relatively supple ride and ultracrisp handling. Ford has done a fine job with the new Mustang -- not only in terms of styling, but also in performance, handling, ride dynamics and basic ergonomics.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't see what your talking about,
Ford has done a fine job with the new Mustang -- not only in terms of styling, but also in performance, handling, ride dynamics and basic ergonomics.

You probably have to be an AOL luddite to see that.

I know that that website said all of that, but the headline is just really misleading for those AOL'ers who don't look into it. I'm mad cause they are headlining the Mustang as a car to avoid in 2005, ya know?

Well when you think about it, it's true..... There aren't going to be any deals to be had on this car once they hit the lot's. We've already heard the dealer horror stories and they haven't even arrived yet.

Right, but that's the way with a lot of new cars. It's still a good price, Ford didn't jack it up from the last model year. There's so many things in this new Mustang's interior that makes the 2004's look kinda cheap (a least to me). I ordered 6/14 and still don't have a VIN, DORA, or build date...Some dealers are just turdbags.

This is what I got off AOL for their reason to avoid the 05 Stang. They also say to avoid the Corvette and 300C.
Ford dealers will have customers lined up 10 deep to get a look at the all-new Mustang, which has been restyled to resemble a modern version of the 1967-68 Mustang. The car looks fabulous and even with the V6 packs a lot of power. Wait six months until the frenzy dies down and the Mustang should be a good buy.

Here's the headline article Kelly was referring to.

http://aol1.bankrate.com/aol/news/auto/bes...FivetoAvoid.asp

I think their angle is that anyone who wants a:
Mustang
Corvette
Hybrid
Magnum / Chrysler 300
Mercedes CLS

...is going to pay a premium until the popularity dies down.

All the rif-raf should go buy a sensible Scion xB till then.

This is just like when a movie critic reviews a darn good action film. They usually say avoid it like the plague, then you go see it yourself and say "Those dorks don't know what they're talking about". I mean come on...if all they can say is side curtains and stability control???

3 years ago, neither of those existed. This car has been literally moved like 15 years forward in one single year. Give me a break already.

I say BUY BUY BUY!! This things going to be awesome fun!

LOL I'll send em my sales invoice I just bought mine for under sticker price. See previous post for pricing. Windveil blue GT Premium with IUP, Side Airbags, Locking Lug Nuts, and Active Anti-Theft... not sure if all that made it in my first post (was a lil excited at the moment).

I guess it is a matter of luck, the few dealers I have talked to won't budge from MSRP or very little off.

The deals/rebates won't be there for this car like they were the last few years on the Mustang
