05/06 Thermostat Relocation

Edelbrock sells a kit (15804) for $173 that replaces all hoses and housing and t-stat and moves t-stat from cold to hot side, but is just adding a universal inline housing on the hot side an ok alternative?

If I install a second t-stat housing on the hot side and move the t-stat from cold to hot side, can I leave the empty cold side housing in place?

I never heard of this. What would be the advantage?

2007 ford moved the t-stat from cold side to hot side so the t-stat operates from engine coolant temp instead of radiator temp. The t-stat would open sooner and respond to engine temp.

Better design, but not much advantage on na to justify $173. Adding a 2nd housing and just moving the t-stat over much cheaper if it's OK to leave old housing in place.

I have an 07 and when I put the Saleen sc on it I had to convert the t stat and plumbing from the 07 up style to the 05-06 style because the Saleen SC was designed based on the 05-06 plumbing.

FWIW

I don't know that there's any advantage. You could upgrade your radiator or go with the 13-14 GT500 cooling fan. Which I've also done. The fan just drops in place and connects like the old one. The blade design is better and moves more air.
