Will 97 Cobra heads fit a 98 GT

I was thinking about swapping the heads on my 1998 Mustang GT with PI heads from a 2001 GT but I found some 97 Cobra heads that I was thinking about using instead.

Will the Cobra heads fit and if so would they be as good or better than the 2001 PI head swap. Also, if I was able to use the Cobra heads would my stock 98 GT intake and exhaust manifolds (throttle body, plenum, headers, etc) fit or would I need the Cobra intake etc. as well? I know if I do the '01 PI head swap I'd need to do some additional upgrades but I was hoping to possibly do the Cobra heads and have everything fit back together and slowly do other upgrades over time as I can.

I'm new to Mustangs and don't know a ton about engine mechanics (especially when it comes to internals) but I just picked up a 98 GT with 46k miles on the motor and no tranny.

If anyone out there has a T45 they want to sell I'm ready to buy one as soon as I find the right deal.

Thanks.

I think you would have to get the whole top end to get those heads work, along with the timing cover.

You will have to change the whole top end , 97 cobra heads are DOHC and 98 mustang gt is SOHC!!

What he said. Just do the PI swap. It will be easier and give you close to that same power output.
