When to replace the struts
I wouldnt bank on it being in years.. more like mileage and useage. Its going to change and be different for every driver/drivingstyle/how hard you drive it/ type of shock etc..
A good rule I've used is to push down on the front of the car, it should compress some and immediately go back to its place. No bouncing, no being able to push it all the way down, maybe just a couple of inches with putting all your weight into it. You can usually tell when a strut is wore out due to sloppyness in the handling.

It seems to bottom out coming off a speed bump really easy and with the Bassani x-pipe being a little lower then the stock system....guess what's getting bottomed out???
at least its your exhaust.. i bump my tranny everytime going in and out of my apartment complex. Something you can do to help bring the car up just a tad is run poly urethane spring isolators. It may raise them between 1/16th and 1/8th of an inch, which wont make much of a noticiable difference in appearance
