Chris-

Check out http://www.mach1registry.com/index1.htm .

You learn the 'in's and out's' of the Mach.

Good luck with your decision.

Stupid question - can it run on 87 octane or is it strictly 91?

Also, are there any skeletons in the closet with this special model (Mach 1) and year of car, or did Ford have most of the bugs worked out?
It can only run 91 or greater octane.

The main TSB items of note for the Mach specifically were for shaker rattle and seats needing to be repositioned. Other major items (crunchy 1-2 shift, engine ticking, fit & finish issues) were in the TSB list for other Mustangs.

For my 2003 specifically, this was what was repaired under warranty -

1) reattach loose interior carpet (twice)
2) replace squeaky front suspension bushings
3) eliminate A/C thumping noise agaisnt firewall (twice)
4) repair slight peel on leather steering wheel (twice)
5) reduce (not eliminate) crunchy 1-2 shift w/new transmission
6) replace non-retracting driver front seat belt
7) replace left front leaking strut

Hope this helps.

2250 azure blue coupes for 2003 (out of 9652 total) , 1616 for 2004 (7182 total)...that's 3866 out of 16834 Mach 1s for the 2 model years

I say wait for the 05 GT or further, the Shelby. I would not want another SN-95 interior. I've had two, a 94 GT(at the time great) and the 99 GT(different look but same). Power is nice in the Mach, but after living with the same interior since 1996, I'm tired and bored. And Hp wouldn't help much. Don't get me wrong, the body style is smokin' but the inside....ehh
MHO.

Yes - I agree. There are certainly some good arguments for the Mach, but I have a feeling that I will miss out if I cancel my order...

Chris, I can get you Oasis and Auto Check reports on the Mach if you decide to go that way. I don't think you'll regret it. I don't know about your area, but down here you just don't see that many Mach's on the road and given time I'm sure there'll be a lot more '05 and newer Mustang GT's.

Well - it looks like the Mach was sold today. So no more temptation.

In a way, I am somewhat relieved. Now I don't have to make a choice.

Also, a guy that got an 05 GT from the same dealer that I ordered mine from, stopped by so I could see his. He let me drive it. What a great car - very solid, very tight.

I know now that holding out for the 05 is the right thing for me.

Of course the Mach will probably be more collectible. Far fewer on the road. But at least I got to drive it and see what it was like.

Thanks to all who provided input. I was really on the fence about it...
