Sound system

I am looking to upgrade my Mach 460 sound system. A couple of the speakers are out and I want to replace them with new upgraded ones and keep the stick look. So guess my question is what would be the best speakers that will bolt up to the stock places. And my car is a coupe. Thanks

im currently in a head unit swap from my mach460. from what i understand is once you try to change speakers, you may need to rewire the whole thing. now i havent done it myself. just something i read about. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. i ended up buying the wrong wiring harness. its for 2000-03... i have an 04. so im on hold waiting on the other wiring harness.

I have an '04 GT with the Mach 1000 system. If you can find one I'd buy it, sounds awesome. Will lose about 2/3 of your trunk space.

Do it as soon as possible, then you'll be sad you didnt do it sooner.

If you just get speakers you can get adaptors for the stock wiring. If you want to go with an amp, you'll probably have to redo the wiring.

I've redone the whole system in my 04 and it sounds amazing. I personally wouldnt go to the Mach 1000 route, because it takes up too much space.

I've got a Pioneer AVH-4200DVD head unit going to an older Sony Xplod amp. It's been wired to the (fantastic) Infinity Kappa 680.9cs speakers. For the tweeters in that kit (and with all other tweeters) you'll need to make a bracket for them in the pods.

You have to be careful with new speakers. 99% of new door speakers are 4ohm and I know the amps in the 460 run at 3 or 4 ohms. But they are wired in parallel so that would drop your door speakers to 2 ohms and the amps will eventually cut out because of being over worked. I have the same problem in my 01 with the 460. I have already replaced my headunit but I'm going to gut the woofers and 2 amps and put in 4 speakers I have and a new amp.

Then eventually put my bump back in.
