Painted tinted tailights anyone

Any 99-04 guys have painted black taillights instead of actual tint? Anyone have any pictures of them I can check out. Found a guy to do it for me for super cheap

Is he putting black paint in clear and the spraying that? Or is he doing something like VHT and clear?

I believe he uses black paint with clear coat
